Today after work on a whim I decided to test my stamina on a 5k track. I haven't ran a 5k in over a year. I fasted today so I only drank coffee and some milk. I really wanted to push myself jog the whole thing but I got really gassed at the last kilometer. I had to walk for about 1 minute total. I really want to build myself up so I can at least slow jog the entire thing in 30 minutes or less.

@joemama711 it's been a while since I've been to the gym. I've been kind of lazy with my dumbbells because I got crap lying around after I moved. I'm starting to get fit everywhere else, though. I feel like if I can do like 4 more of those runs I'll be able to push through the whole thing even on a fasting day. I'm training my body to go straight to stored fat reserves on high intensity workouts.

@arc any kinda movement or pushing/strenght thing is good though id probably just relook at the full price of those dumb bells to get motivation to use them lol. Random but adding acid to a salad with protein helps a lot (Tomatoes, pickled onions or jaleponeos, regular pickles).

@joemama711 interesting. I never thought of that. Luckily I was just using a vinaigrette based dressing to my ground turkey salads already. I should probably add tomatoes too

@arc it helps deal with dry meat a lot lol, I love a good vinagrette as well i dont know a lot of low calorie ones besides Bolthouse farms, Kens or Olive Garden. I learned that trick from this guy i think? I forgey tbh but i did find out about pickled onions from him https://youtu.be/hGytLxc95Pk?si=knxBWEak0R5mvfLK

Okay round 2 happened today. After 4 days of rest, I ran another 5k and I managed to do the whole thing without slowing to a walk or cramping side. 35 minutes. My best was 32. I'm still at a beginner level but I really want see under 30 minutes.

Okay round 3 of the 5k track. Today I decided to just haul ass, push the entire run as far as I could, heart rate high. Halfway through I felt like I was sick to my stomach and actually had to slow down to a walk with splitting side and breathing heavily. But after a minute, I carried on, trying to pick up a faster pace than last time. I thought I wasn't doing the run that great, but I managed to finish the run in 31 minutes 15 seconds! That's a couple seconds lower than the fastest time I ever clocked 3 years ago. I shaved about 4 minutes off my last run, but this was almost my absolute limit. My goal is to have a good pace all thee way through and finish under 30 minutes. I also checked my weight and I lost about 6 pounds since I started this 5k challenge a week and a half ago. That's actually pretty crazy weight loss. Doing a 5k while fasting will burn fat really fast! Right now my weight is at 130 after the run which is awesome considering my goal is to see under 130 on my weight. This weekend I'm going to try to jog part way up a mountain and see how fast I can get to the summit and back.

Yesterday my doctor was concerned about my weight, which makes sense. I dropped 7 pounds in a month. It seems like every 5k run I do I lose a pound. I can only do once a week. I also do a 3 hour pickleball session after work one day a week with co-worker friends, then work out with my dad on the weekend for arm strength. As soon as I recover I push myself hard. First goal of hitting under 130lbs is hit. I just want to work on my 5k time which I'm still struggling with. I hit that 31:15 time pushing myself to my limit, but most days I still can't get my time under 33. Maybe in a month or so....
