It was a single example and the DMV is where you get your non-driver ID, same as your driver's license. You have to have an ID to buy alcohol or cigarettes. To get on an airplane. To get a library card. Hell, you have to have 4 forms of ID to shovel snow in New York. You've got to have an ID for the most mundane of things. So why is it racist to need an ID for something as important as voting? Yet it's fine to require them for everything else? If EVERYONE is required to have an ID, it's not a race issue. It was written into the proposed law that ID's would be provided free of charge. So you can't argue that poor people can't afford a free ID. Nor does the DMV charge you to register to vote. Again it's already a law that you have to register in order to vote. Why wouldn't you get a free ID at the same time? Systemic racism is the embedded discrimination within laws, policies, and institutions that disproportionately disadvantages certain racial groups while privileging others. If the law somehow prohibited another race from getting an ID, or made it harder for them to get an ID, then that would be systemic racism. So explain to me how it's systemic racism to require an ID for anything and everything you need an ID for? All I see is blah blah blah about your ancestors reason for being there in the first place. But you haven't given a single example of current day systemic racism preventing you from having an ID. For a 3rd time, it's ALREADY a LAW that you have to register to vote, in order to vote. Why is an ID systemic racism? IF IT'S NOT SPECIFICALLY A RACE ISSUE, IT CAN STILL BE PREJUDICE. What you're describing with your ancestors being pushed to live their is PREJUDICE. It's not racism. Do you seriously not understand the difference? Make the argument that it's PREJUDICE, and drop the systemic racism, or prove to me that someone of a specific race isn't allowed to get an ID.
