AI generated content in Anime

Has anyone else been noticing the AI generated content in recent anime? I’ve noticed it more often in background images with buildings that don’t make sense, and also in a recent carriage scene with awful animations. I get using it to save time, but when the AI makes obvious mistakes, why not fix them. It should be easy for artists and animators to make simple corrections to art, shouldn’t it? What are your thoughts? Have you noticed it yourselves? Do you think AI will hurt or help the anime industry?

I personally dislike AI being used. I think instead of making things "easier" for them (which usually isn't the case with these certain things truly, it's their workplace overworking them so they don't have proper time to animate), they should actually just treat their workers like actual human beings so they have the proper time to draw/animate their stuff. But, as most big businesses are very greedy...I don't think that'll happen anytime soon or very easily.

I wouldn’t mind if it wasn’t detrimental to the show. But when they’re lazy with it like I’ve been seeing. That’s exactly what it is. Yeah, having the time to do it right is crucial. But you also need someone to NOT just say, “screw it, close enough.” Before it didn’t get done until an artist did it. And even when they rushed, artists typically held themselves to some kind of standard. Using AI to do it, now it’s instantly done, and the artist didn’t even have to be involved at all. Quality control went out the window for ease and expediency.

I love it because the fans will start making anime with better plots than the actual animes when the tech gets better. The fans are more creative. I see all the isekai anime fakes on tiktok and some of them have good plots. Though I don't want ai in actual anime. Like a mix. But, fans making anime with AI I fuck with. I hope ai gets better so I can have more isekai slop. What if a wizard gets hold of the ai that know what we want that could be fun.

2nd time I've seen a background image with a random floating tower that doesn't seem to be affected by gravity. Now that I think about it, both of them were the demon king castles. Edit: I had to go back an check... Nope, make that 3 separate animes. All demon lord castles. Now I think it was intentional, rather than just an accident by bad AI backgrounds. I have been noticing though, that symmetrical building lines, like windows down the side of mansion that should all be same. Their lines aren't the same, and don't meet where they should. Kind of like this image. I don't think an actual artist would make such basic mistakes, but maybe I'm wrong. . . https://cdn.vectorstock.com/i/500p/63/75/impossible-square-icon-vector-29086375.jpg

I love seeing AI in anime because of how much of anime is just functional and rote. The same background from 6 different camera angles, walk and talks where the only thing moving is the lip flaps, establishing shots of generic buildings like schools, audiences filled with background characters, cars driving by in a city, etc. A huge fraction of what we see in anime is just scaffolding for the high impact scenes that develop the story and frankly not much care is put into them as it is but they take up most of the production schedule. If they can spend 20 minutes on a background instead of 6 hours then that's more time and care they can put somewhere else in the production. Or in the case of most anime it will let them go home on time instead of doing 4 more hours of mandatory overtime.

I see that a lot with 3d rendered objects, instead of taking the time to draw them. I’m not really a fan of how they mix drawn and 3d models together. Maybe AI could help blend the 3D models to make them look more drawn.

They can also use much simpler 3D models if they are only going to be a reference for the AI so it saves the 3D team time on top of meshing better with the 2D art.

If you are a random guy on youtube and you have some great creative ideas, I'm totally fine with heavy use of AI. But when you get to be a studio that has the ability to pay artists and animators, I absolutely don't think they should use AI except for concepting and very parts that have an artist and animator pass over. When you see major studios and companies using AI, it looks like soulless AI slop.
