Meet ups.

Not with on MO yet, but I've arranged group cosplays for events in the Georgia/Florida area! Planning on doing My Hero Academia this summer c:

As for myself, I've met a handful. Most people I've met were from a different site/community that I'm more active in. Most of the meetings I've had took place in little tokyo for that matter, seems like the ideal place. First dude I met was pretty cool, we just chatted and checked out shops and junk. It's a shame he left the community not that long afterwards and I never heard back from him. Second person I met from there was someone I had known for a while, got hella lost the whole day because he was driving and his phone died that had the gps. No charger for that matter. Mine meanwhile had no data. (I only now realized we could have swapped sim cards.) Met the same dude a couple more times after that but things eventually went south due to some drama at a con where he may or may not have been ignoring my texts and avoiding me. Also met with this dude who's job had him travel to LA for a few days. Unfortunately we were stuck in traffic the whole time but it wasn't that bad. Met with this other guy that turned out to be a basket case, took him to see a screening of an anime movie and he pretty much bolted the second we got in, this after ignoring me during the lengthy car ride and just playing games on my phone the whole time. Thought it'd be nice to see a movie with a friend but instead it was the same as just going alone. That guy ended up pissing everyone off while trolling and being a dick for no reason and got banned anyway. Another dude I know was at AX last year and invited me to have dinner at this nice Brazilian place with him. Turned out I indirectly knew two of the other guys he was with. We went back to his hotel to play mariokart and puyo puyo on his Switch for the rest of the evening, it was pretty rad. I wasn't gonna go to AX again this year but he convinced me to go again. Even offered to buy me a ticket for this jojo experience thing they got going on this year. Me, him and traffic dude still talk regularly. Likewise there's a buddy from the same community who's been trying to get me to take a trip to Texas for years now to hang out with him. Maybe someday I'll get around to it but who knows. As for meeting people from MO, I've only met two people from here so far. The most recent one which was a few days ago was from when I was visiting the town they're in, and so while I was there we had lunch and chatted for a bit. The other was during AX last year, but unfortunately we didn't get to talk much since I was kinda pressed for time and it took longer than I expected for us to find each other there. Came close with two other people from here but these were girls I was starting to get close to but who broke off contact just before we had the chance to meet. In both cases it was because they got involved with other guys. ( Let that be a lesson to other guys out there, if you're gonna make a move, do it quick. Taking things slow while getting to know people first doesn't work when you've got tons of competition out there. ) Lastly I met with a girl at AX from a different site who I had gotten to know pretty well leading up to the con. She decided to bring a guy she just met with her though who clearly hated my guts from the moment he saw me and decided to cockblock me as the kids say all day long. Needless to say I ended up feeling like a third wheel. We drifted apart after that and haven't really talked since. Then this morning I had the first meeting of a local anime group I decided to create. Only three people aside from me showed up, but that was in a way more than I expected. We simply had breakfast while talking about whatever. One of the guys ended up being a bit annoying and made it hard for others to get a word in, but for the most part it wasn't horrible. With any luck we'll get more members next time.
