YES. Very much so. I love to read. Up until a few years ago, reading almost constantly was my defining trait. I like many classics, but I'm not afraid to admit that some are simply overrated. My favourite author is Pratchett, my favourite genres are deconstructed sci-fi and de/reconstructed fantasy. I like some stuff that could be considered smut or romance depending on how you look at it. I enjoy mysteries, especially mysteries involving a normal chef or cook who gets roped into all sorts of mysteries and often falls in love with a member of the local constabulary (which always surprises me at how such a specific genre can have so many series in it). I love urban fantasy (The Dresden Files, Greywalker, and October Daye are some of my favourite series out of all books, not just the genre); I've tried reading the Sookie Stackhouse series (I like the TV series), but haven't been able to access the first book, entirely for lack of trying. When I was a kid, more dull than I am now, I actually read a dictionary for fun, and tried but failed to read an encyclopedia. I took a job as a textbook editor for my university because they were literally paying me to do something I already did for free (especially when I got to edit translated Russian and French literature, and the works of Dante Aligheri). Lately, I've been getting into retro-Victorian books, the kind of books that are designed to read like something from the time of the Bronte sisters, Oscar Wilde, before, or between. I also unironically like some books that are meant for younger readers, because they were written with a skill appreciable by older readers (such as Garth Nix's Keys to the Kingdom and in a different way Seventh Tower series), or when a series "grew up" for their readers, and it was worthwhile to go back and read the less linguistically and philosophically complex earlier books (like Harry Potter). ...Oh, dear. Wii Fit (or just a stepping stool) plus a Netflix subscription or set of DVDs, and optionally a set of ankle and/or wrist weights. I lost over 50lb (23KG) watching seasons 2 through 6 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer that way, plus movies and anime while I was waiting to find each next season. If you can stand to pay attention to a screen while doing situps or pushups or memorized yoga, good for you! (<-Sincerity. I couldn't.) I could have also done situps while listening to audiobooks, but I neither cared to nor needed to. Perhaps that could be done with anime spinoff light novels in audiobook format (or the other way around, in the case of light novels that spun off into anime).

*mock salute* Trans here, too, but I had to deal with that bloody mess that was a two-choice "pick your sex" application option (Edit: Oh, I dd mean "bloody mess" in the British sense, not the brutish sense). I agree with securitysam that anyone willing to be openly into anime is more willing to be openly LGBTQ if they were LGBTQ in the first place. I'll expand on that with the point that anime also has genres like yaoi, yuri, girls/boys' love (none of which are outright pornographic, but can be very, very close), bara-esque action shows, and genres that cross over between boys' and girls' stereotypical lines (whereas until this last decade, She-Ra was probably a typical example of western non-stereotypical genre targeting). For that last point, people are going to be more willing to cross stereotype and conformity lines when they were already predisposed to do so. As for crossplay, I really don't think it's an LGBT thing, any more than kigurumi usually is (I consider the latter to be a very, very Q thing, but not G or T or anything like that). From what I've seen and from a few statistics I vaguely remember, transpeople are more likely to dress as their sex instead of their gender when cosplaying with no ulterior point (such as when my group did a group cosplay based on personality instead of looks). It's kind of like drag; it's less about being yourself, for most people (but far from all people), and more about getting out of yourself or playing a different, "lulzy" side of yourself. Oh, and there are also stereotypes that anime is all full of girls in short schoolgirl skirts that somehow appeal to gay male kids and other things like that, which attract curious people who end up realizing the stereotype is stupidly wrong but stay because they liked the reality of the medium or culture. Less relevant, but still relevant.

Paranoia Agent...OMFG I hated it so much. It was slow and deep. Which isn't a problem most of the time. But this one was just too much, I mean you when drop something for like 4 episodes, then bring it up again randomly. To put it simply, It insisted on itself. That something that bugged he hell out of me.
