Well, I've dated a girl of mixed race before and it didn't feel unusual at all. I can't speak for anyone else, but I feel that someone's ancestry isn't the main criterium for a romantic relationship, or any relationship for that matter. Besides, we're all the same race: the human race.

I've never actually dated outside my race, but I would like to think that it wouldn't be an issue. I've always told myself 'race and gender don't matter', because it's true. I know that gender really doesn't matter to me (current GF QED) but as for past that...
It's not that I won't, but there are very few people in my area that aren't white. I grew up/live in a bible-thumping (No offence meant) village of 3,000 and we have a whole 3 black people and handful of hispanics in town. Makes it kinda difficult, and I know that this causes a lot of people from my area to be nervous when talking to other ethnicities just because they've never been around them; usually stemming from being scared because of racist things they've heard, or being afraid to offend someone. These are both problems that can be overcome, of course, in the right circumstances. Unfortunately, most people in the area never venture out of it.

I've been talking about this topic with friends and family for awhile now. My friends never understood why i find Asians so attractive, i always had to tell them its not cause i like anime or because i think the japanese language is beautiful, its because i find so many things about them attractive. Their eyes, hair, the ability to look cute even when nerdy lol ^^ The thing is i also find Puerto Ricans, Caucasians, Latinos attractive. My own race on the other hand the thing is i can date them anytime i want cause i know that their available cause the colors of our skin but for me i like to go after something thats challenging. Can i attract an asian with my dark skin? Can i have alot in common with someone from a completely different background? i want the chance to be able to have somethiing great with someone from a different background. The possibilities attract me. Interraccial dating is great, my dad is a racist but thats something i can overlook cause i don't live with him lol.

Honestly I can say race is not a factor if the person loves the person no matter the race it's love. I'm guessing some use it as an excuse to say they were either not physically attracted to each other or personality wise :)

Well, race really shouldn't be a factor in anything. I'm Asian and I've rebelled against my parents by dating Mexicans and Caucasians, lol. But, I must say...on the last part of your post about appearances...I'm sure you would be the same as well, if you had one good looking guy with one not so good looking guy with the same personalities that you liked...you'd go for the good looking one cause well, good looking is a plus.
Now, it's different to say that the good looking one had a horrible personality but the not so good looking one had the personality that you want in a potential other. Cause if that's the case, honestly, very few would go for the good looking one. Having someone that's good looking and your kind of personality is definitely a plus. When both have the same personality, of course the next option would be..."Who looks better?" Just saying, my opinion, that's all =)

I usually don't care what my parent's say about who i hang out with (talking to them about my friends would mean also having to explain everything about anime and conventions and that's a 4 hour awkward conversation i do not want to have)
but about race. it's really all about how you were raised around it. i was raised to treat people like people. the only thing i find odd is when people fit the stereotype.... then i just laugh.... but to end i will say this, i do not mind whether you're black white red yellow (although if you're blue you probably need medical attention) so long as you don't mind the fact that i have a thing for short girls in glasses....

Well, for me personally, I am mixed with Caucasian, African American, and Native American and I personally love it. When I was little I did get teased for being mixed on top of being the nerd or "smart girl" so ya, my life hasn't been perfect of course, lol, but I think I actually feel luckier being mixed because it gives me the opportunity to connect more with other people/races since there are still a fair amount of people who just "stick to their own race." I was raised not to care about the outside, but be more focused on the inside because what color you are plays no role in if you're a good person or not. I also haven't dated a ton of people, but the few people I have dated have all been a different race and i've never minded one bit. Also my parents opened the eyes of my other family members when I was born because a lot of my family on both sides used to be at least a little racist until they saw what could come from such a wonderful union between my parents. I just really would love to think that everyone someday would just love someone for who they are on the inside, regardless of color, but it'll prob never happen in my lifetime, lol.

I don't think race should matter....I mean why should it? Go back far enough in someone's family tree and you'd be surprised by what you'll find.
I'm asian(vietnamese, cambodian, chinese and some french) I don't even think asian girls would like me because of the way I am. Looking at it that way, no race isn't all that important. I dunno...I just think alot of people are too caught up in a certain type of image. Whether this image is based on societal/cultural *ideals* and/or norms isn't the real issue, it's that you're gonna like who you're gonna like regardless of the race or whatever else. That said....I'm speaking in the *ideal* truth is when you get right down to it 90+ % of mankind is pretty shallow.I honestly don't think we can help it. We want a mate/partner(...whatever) who fits our *ideal* even if just in some small way. I can't really say if that in itself is wrong but it's the general all across the board view that bothers me. Why should anyone care what their folks think of the person *you* like....I mean in the end it's something you have to deal with, not them...If people can't accept that you happen to be born to parents 2 shades lighter/darker, came from another country, were raised differently or happen to not look like Sasha Grey then screw 'em. I'm a pretty average guy myself and trust me, I'm nothing special and I'm short, so I know I'm not a great catch to alot of girls just because of all that...so what? My parents didn't like my ex because she was white....didnt care. When it comes right down to it....just go full tilt.
Sorry...I tend to get ecited when it comes to stuff like this cuz to me, in the bigger picture of it all...there are WAY more important things to worry about then your *race*....even using the word the way it's used annoys me.

Race can be a barrier but I believe all humans have the ability to change. A persons personality can turn the opinion of any one. What I come to realized is a strong personality can overcome any social issues. If a person has desirable traits then a person will be willing to fight for them. I never related to anyone. Perhaps that's why I always been alone. I always been out of place every where I go. So I don't believe race has anything to with it. Race is more of an accessory what makes the difference is who you are. If a person gives you such a poor excuse it means they are not willing to fight for you. As for look, remember your appearance can be perceived as and extension of who you are inside even if its not true.
