Do you have to be SEXY or PERFECT BODY to cosplay these days?

nerdalous
No even though some of the best cosplays call for having a pretty good figure. Dam you anime and setting a slandered for perfection. I've started working out so I could better match the body type of the people I want to cosplay this fall. <a href="http://s226.photobucket.com/user/jot_hacker/media/TheSpecture_zps3eaadc08.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd83/jot_hacker/TheSpecture_zps3eaadc08.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo TheSpecture_zps3eaadc08.jpg"/></a> <a href="http://s226.photobucket.com/user/jot_hacker/media/Solar_zpse5392fd4.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd83/jot_hacker/Solar_zpse5392fd4.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo Solar_zpse5392fd4.jpg"/></a>

I don't think it hurts, but it's not a requirement. That being said, if there is a particular body type the character you're trying to do has, as some have mentioned in this thread, you can use it as motivation to help get yourself into shape in between conventions.

well yeah you can think on it like that for sure but frankly im comfortable with my wide body but sometimes i hope that even just being at the convention and cosplaying with a happy face will just be enough even when my cosplay not perfection or my body isnt perfect white and thin with masssive curves like anime chicks usually are it would help to excerise but i choose not too in my opiinion im perfect already but in groups or crowds of perfect females i do get the feeling of wonder on what had been/could been lol cant be help i guess.thanks for the posts.

You don't have to have the same body type as the character you're cosplaying as. If your costume is on point, people will like it. I went to momocon 2013 as uchiha Madara (minus the wig because of my dreads) and I was surprised how many people told me my costume awesome. In fact, I can't remember anyone saying anything bad about it.

Clearly I dont have these issues. I look good regardless of what I wear... However, anyone is capable of pulling sexy off, regardless of size or whatever. Theres always someone for someone. What matters is how you feel about it. If you have to think about whether you have to look sexy or fit the cosplay right, youve already got issues. Feel comfortable in your own skin and dont give a fuck what other people think..... works for me..

People seem to think i have the perfect body which is funny to me. we all have flaws, and theres no reason anybody shouldn't cosplay who they want

I used to have a pretty good body to cosplay in until I gained 50 pounds from 120 to 170 in 3 years. But in the last 6 months I started to exercise and eat a lot better and lost 23 pounds so I'm getting back into shape. I'm still far from perfect but I doubt many people can actually be in perfect shape or have the perfect body to cosplay in. As long as your happy I think that's all that really matters.
