Do you have to be SEXY or PERFECT BODY to cosplay these days?

IM a full figured woman and I love cosplaying. Tho i haven't been brave enough for a female character due to the amount of skin they like shown. Instead I chose one of my favorite male characters. I got very good feedback and didnt worry once about my body after I got to the convention. Sure, the ones showing skin where skinny but I found some of the better cosplayers didn't have that perfect body type. Next year Im gonna suck it up and do a female character and say screw it. Cosplaying isnt about the body. It's about paying tribute to an anime that you love.

This exactly. There's nothing wrong with setting a goal of getting in shape to play a specific character--I'm doing that myself--but it should be something you do because you want to, not because you feel like it's required in order for you to be able to cosplay.

I've always thought about cosplay as being how well you EXECUTE your design. Some of the best cosplays I've ever seen weren't about the accuracy of the character, but rather the creativity put into the costume. Another thing that helps is the confidence of the person doing it. I saw... er... way to many dudes cosplaying chicks at Otakon this year. But, basically they all owned it and seemed like fun people as opposed to just being creepy about it. They MADE it work.

i agree. lol it was fun to try n figure out if who I was looking at was male or female. I think the gender bender brave people really know how to rock their chracters.

ur right all of you i guess jessica niigri and all the other hot cosplayer girls are finally gettinng to me but they lack seriously in costume ^^ i think im more of a chloe or a yaya han fan even though she shows her boobs atleast she works on her costume then go to a sexy halloween site to find one ^-^ it really is just having fun ^.^

It looks better obviously if you have the characteristics of the actually character, which is inhuman. It seems that as long as you have a big bust your cosplaying right? i don't think that came out the way i wanted it to.

It's just more points to ya if you have the physical characteristics of the character you're cosplay as. You don't have to have a sexy or perfect body.
