Porn is getting banned

So I just found out porn is getting banned in the South as of today. Now you have to submit your government issued ID over the internet to be allowed to view it. How do you guys feel about that? I for one am opposed. China is another country that cracks down on what people do online. Iran is another country that cracks down on what people do online. This shit is how Big Brother starts.

Eh, thought it was just Texas, but this doesn't surprise me in the least. I've never known a a Democrat, a Libertarian, or a small government republican (Religious or not) to shove their puritan values down people's throats through authoritarian legislation. It sounds just like an extreme version of age verification to me (simplified version lol), especially as porn (I feel) is a bit too easy to have access to not gonna lie, however (BIG however), there is this thing called free will (yes, even towards things you don't agree with personally) that people should be allowed to do. That and the fact that it's the government, I don't believe for one second that the majority is doing it out of genuine concern for anyone XD.

Agreed. The problem with them expanding this ban to other states is where does it stop? NSFW art? Any website that has an adult section? Will somebody who posts NSFW art on a non government-sponsored website get in trouble? It's one thing if the government wants to see my ID if I want to vote, but if they want to see my ID before they hand me robot catgirl maid eldritch dwarf hentai, HELL NO. Just imagine how crazy it is for the government to now have a database of whatever shameless smut their citizens are getting into. Have fun when that database gets and leaked.

That's true. You never know where they want to start/stop things like this, but just like most laws passed, there are multiple things you have to take into account with these things. Like, I DO think porn is a bit too easily accessible, especially with underage people (which can be my main issue with that), however, it's also the parents job to check on their kids history (depending on the age) as well as setting up age restriction. Of course, parents that actually are trying with their kids can't watch EVERYTHING their kid does, but yeah. Things like this are usually very rarely done out of genuine concern for (in this case) the youth or those genuinely struggling with an addiction with these things. It's usually a power move or a test to see what they can get away with before anyone says anything, but by that point, it's usually too late. And tbh, Arc-Senpai, I think the government already has our search history/purchase history XD. I truly believe there's nothing that is a secret when it comes to the government and it's people, it's just that we the people don't realize that lol.

It seems like a boomers version of a good idea done too late. If they start going after hentai games, only fans and lewdness soon maybe people will care enough to riot. I just don't see it becoming like this

I'm fine with it, too many children are able to access pornography at a young age. Some discords with an NSFW section do not have a ID verification. we do have free will, but children do not have willpower and will seek methods of self worship during their rebellious phase that have lasting consequences. States & Counties do have the power to enforce morality if they wanted to, the concept of a dry county has existed for quite a long time. you are required to have an ID of some form to get your ballot, you need an ID to buy cigarettes and alcohol, heck you need an ID to get government assistance at the various offices. before the internet the idea was you had to go into a place and use your ID to buy pornography, that's how it became legalized. It's kind of hella unregulated atm online, and we used to have an issue with anyone being able to upload their own videos on various sites in the late 2000's-mid 2010s. I get I will get a lot of clack for this, but if we TRUELY cared about people we would be willing to protect them. Parents can only do so much, even with account controls or filtering I was smart enough to get around anything and everything even at school. its extremely easy to find, and that is dangerous for developing minds. it gives them the idea that sex is more about objectification/self-gratification than it is a private unitive action between two individuals. If absolute power can corrupt, then absolute freedom can corrupt too. Freedom isn't some holy value that comes from God like we claim in the United States, its something we chose for ourselves back in the garden of Eden. God only respects our choice of freedom because he loves us, & allows the consequences to teach us about the nature of ourselves.
