I dont see meaningless animal abuse and murder right cause it is just a waste of resources...but as long as they are put to use it is okay with me...

Gabe is right i would say. Ethics of eating an animal are different then raping someone. You cant say one is as bad as the other, or one is survival of the fittest if the other one is too. Our ethics are based around our personal beliefs so obviously everyones is going to be different. But societys ethics is based off of the social norm. It is not ok to beat a cat/dog or eat one because as a society we think they are smarter and have an innate connection with them based off our interactions with them. But the same point can be made about the food we eat. They have set standards in which they have to raise them, and cannot beat them either. Some people still do obviously because their ethics are their own, but they are not supposed to based on the rules society set, based off our collective ethics. Eating meat is like a religion to some people tho. They were raised doing it and see nothing wrong with it because of where they see themselves on the food chain. In some ways nature built us humans to eat both meat and greens but because we are so smart and can overdevelop and have reached a population we prob werent meant to it has beem more hurtful then good on the environment. I eat meat btw but i can see both sides of the coin. I dont believe its wrong tho because meat eaters are meant to be in the world. It helps keep ecosystems in check, and stops overpopulation among the ecosystems. But its to the point where its doing more harm then good, and we have to "make" more instead of it happening naturally like its supposed to. So I dont think its a bad thing, but i think people needing it at every meal is because they consume it faster then its meant to be.

i dont think meat is gross, meat is fucking delicious, but I love animals and don't to give money to the people that torture them its not hard like people seem to assume, being vegan is actually really easy when you make the connection. my bf has been vegetarian for 14 years (since he was 15) and recently went vegan.

yep but that is just you and your moral compass saying that...and farm animals are not being tortured all the time..if they are raised there from birth it is the norm for that animal..sure it feels pain when they are eventually killed and processed for meat but all animals do feel pain when they are hunted in the wild and may be they feel worse when they spend out in the wild with bad climate and low resources pf food... so animals being tortured in farms dont think is a valid point here

society is based off of social contract, which is based loosely off of empathy. Slavery was also a cultural norm, but we also got rid of that. And no, I'm not saying the two are the same, but they situation of culture shifting to more ethical practices is a president that has been shown time and time again. Human's don't need to eat meat. Animals do it but they don't know any better, and we hold ourselves to a higher standard and are better off for it societally. Animal overpopulation is caused by humans, and unfortunately I agree culling can be necessary, but it's still shitty. I'm not against eating meat you hunted yourself if its from an invasive species, but that is not the situation most people find themselves in, so it is absolutely irrelivent to the common person, which is the majority of people. Also, we do not think its ok to hit a cat or dog because cats and dogs feel pain, not because they form connections with us. We would say the same to any animal if we saw it. If a pig was being blugened in front of you you would surely stop it, not because that pig is a pet, but because it's being harmed. It is the exact same courtesy we give humans. sorry if I missed any points, I have trouble reading big blocks of texts. @koro, 99% of farms are factory farms and those farms torture their animals. Baby pigs have their genitals cut off with 0 pain killers. The mother pigs can't even stand up they so confined, and actual physical abuse is routine in these kind of places because these workers literally get PTSD from the horrible conditions they work in. If it's damaging to humans psychologically can you imagine what the animals do through? And this isn't even getting into the 1% of grass fed cows, which is where I would ask how comfortable do you need to make a cow before you can kill it, and why doesnt that extend to humans?

Sorry was away, no rape is not justifiable I could get mauled to death by a bear in the woods and the bear wouldn't have any qualms with doing it. The bear won't wait for my death from old age, I'm not sparing the bear that courtesy either. Besides if we were to just let animals roam rampant wouldn't that cause some kind of population problem? An influx of wild cows would breed an influx of predators that prey on them fucking the ecosystem up, I don't want packs of wolves roaming outside elementary schools. I don't know but I'll be damned if burger King hasn't fed more starving children than a field of flowers.

The bear doesnt know any better, you do. damn I keep having to repeat this. no, animals living in their normal eco system doesnt cause damage, its when humans encroach on their territory and displace them do issues arise. there is no such thing as a wild cow, cows were selectively bred, same with the chickens and pigs we eat. theyr ancesters are still around, but the things we have bred are unique. and on that note we literally bred chickens so big they cant even stand on their own. so. that's pretty fucking fucked up. and no, if we used the farms we use to feed animals instead to feed humans, there would be a surplus of food

well then without reducing the money we pay we have to pay more so the animals get better treatment...is that the point?
