about Preferences...?

Was thinking on this a bit. To what extent do you feel preferences should dictate whether or not you choose to be with someone? Should it be an all in, this is my life, I don't settle for squat type deal where someone must meet all of your preferences? Do you feel preferences are overrated and you'd be willing to date someone even if they somehow met none or very few of your preferences? By that same token how much should someone else's preferences affect whether or not they'd date YOU? Should you be someone's ideal perfect match? Would it bother you if there were things about you they didn't like? Ladies, if you have hairier legs would it bother you if your partner expressed they preferred them shaved? Gentleman, if you have a bit of a gut would it tick you off if your lady wanted you to start going to the gym more often? Would you be fine with them having these preferences as long as they didn't express them to you? I would like to hear you guys thoughts on this

I've stuggled with that a long time, and what I learned is in the end it's up to you to decide what your needs are and if their being met. Your happiness shouldn't be the responsibility of others.

i'd say that raises another question are you dating for love or so you dont have to be alone

@Dat Boi, if you are dating out of loneliness then you are doomed to fail. You need to be okay being single. Putting your happiness on others as a crutch is unfair to them and to yourself.

You wouldn't be doing yourself any favors by thinking that way but I hear you. I date because it's a great way to get to know if me and someone else are compatible, how well we mesh and get along. Falling in love is a bit hard for me xD But I sure as hell don't do it because I'm worried about loneliness

@Cheeto, Damn dude that was well put. Props for recognizing your faults and working to be a better person. Even if I don't agree with all of your thoughts on it. It's cool that you're willing to compromise. And we all were young and dumb at some point.
