I think somewhere down the middle is usually best. I *wanted* to be a video game programmer/writer. But the path of the game dev is just both not feasible and horrifying. Maybe it'll get better if this game industry unionizing gains traction. I wound up settling for software development and writing novels on the side. I'm *somewhat* happy with what I do, and I'm making a sorta decent living (by sorta, I mean damn you college debt >.<)

Do what is practical and what makes you happy.
It is your life, you know what is best for you. Whatever your parents say just listen and take notes. You dont have to follow them just keep what they say in mind. Living requires a lot of patience and hard work. Nothing comes easy. If you want to have a career that is fun but low wage, do it, you can do side jobs as well, why restrict yourself to one? The job market gets harder everytime but do not let that stop you, just keep trying. Your career really depends on how much you want it and how far you are willing to go for it.
Trust me, I’ve been there...
Never let anyone even yourself pressure you. Because why do you have to? Why are they rushing you? Or why are you rushing yourself? Everything takes time as well. Dont force yourself and dont pressure yourself. You wont be happy with that.
Lastly not everyone knows what you are going through, so take your time and understand yourself and what you want.

I think I would take the risk of giving up temperory stability for greater and long-lasting happiness if it is worthy.

Happiness for me, I know too many people in management that are making a shit loads of money..yet have no time to enjoy it at all(Though that's not the case for everyone).
However I'm only responsible for myself atm, so I can afford to be a little carefree. I live a pretty simple lifestyle anyway, so I don't need much(Yet). Those with families don't always get a choice. My mom was going to be an architect..but then my pops came along..and I came along soon after lol.

Yeah, there's really no right answer. I tend to pick and choose based on what suits my goals at the current phase I am at in life. Jobs that suck all your free time and embroil you deep into a pit of depression (But hey, you've got more money than you know what to do with!) And jobs that give you the time you need to play around and focus on say, that game you've been working on for 5 years. The latter is my personal preference. I'd rather be happy and fulfilled, but a little strapped for cash, than provided for, but empty in life.

Well right now I have a stable job, I don't hate it but don't love it either. If I had the chance to choose happiness I'm not sure if I could just leave my job. You have to find a way to have a little of both.

Maybe I can sell lucky bamboo and kombucha. Or my city plans that are in my pics. It looks like scrap but it gets the idea across.

I like my job and the pay is alright. I'm far from rich but I can pay my bills just fine and can afford to buy dumb crap if I feel like it. Since most people seem to complain about hating what they do or how tight money is, I really got nothing to complain about in this department.

I wish I could work at the gaming/ 2d animation / comic industry. My passion is storytelling and the importance of visual presentation in that.
Here I am, doing a Designer degree.
Since trying what I really love would put me in the streets, I tried to find something that can give me a good amount of money to live, and that resembles my original like. Tho people can argue that character design is, well, design, my degree doesn't teach me what I like, but yes tools that will help me get there.
When I finish this and probably a master degree too, I might not get my dream wish or something, if I end up becoming a Graphic or a Web Designer I will be happy too.
In the end my priority is having money to spend on expanding my comic book collection and be able to buy the most recent games, that's what makes me happy after all.
