Corn based sugar? Will do... I mean, sugar cane is an awesome source of sugar too and deeeeeefinitly hasn't caused any issues from over use an consumption.
But, maybe I'll watch those "educational" and "informative" videos at some point because we all know Boondocks is highly "educational".
On that note, there are plenty of studies to show how simular corn syrup and sugar are. Neither are particularly healthy in the long run with over consumption as it is. You know that fructose part of high fructose corn syrup? Best not eat that apple, it contains fructose too. It's not so much that corn syrup is bad, really most studies are inconclusive and seem to point more towards the fact that our bodies treat it just the same as white sugar( With possible minor...very...very minor differences). It again boils down to over consumption. Overconsumption of sugar is horrible, too.
Plenty more articles than this, but here's a start for you.

A couple of things
1. The 7-second Boondocks clip was just to punctuate the message.
2. And I cannot stress this enough, I did not advocate substituting sugars with sugars. I also don't recall using the words educational or informative when describing the videos though I do think that they make a good start. Still I am not sure what you're quoting when you say those words.
3. I appreciate you adding some reading into the mix I really do. Thank you for that. But the point of my message was to avoid overconsumption. Fuck too much water is deadly for you. But our bodies do not need much sugar at all and a vast majority of people in the US overconsume it. So generally I can assume the average viewer is doing the same.
But the average consumer does not read labels or ingredients and you'd be surprised at the number of people I've met who do not even know what high fructose corn syrup is. Most people know that too much sugar is a bad thing. Even if they don't always know why.

Again, in moderation, is corn syrup any worse than cain sugar? Also, I wasn't quoting a thing. More than likely it's just my typing "skills" showing.XD
I don't want to twist your original intent into an argument. So, lets just say that I certainly agree that over consumption is the real problem. I think more people realize this than you think, but most unfortunately, don't care.

Too much of anything is bad. Too much chocolate = diabeetus [bad] Too much money = get robbed [bad] Too much alcohol before bed means you go to the bathroom every 30 minutes [bad]

I'll definitely be one to say that high fructose corn syrup is worse than pure cane sugar. You can't go out and farm high high fructose corn syrup. You do it in a lab, so you get all those contaminants in it. There are societies outside of the U.S. that consume high sugar but it is natural sugar so they don't have all the problems Americans do.
Anything that has high fructose corn syrup in it belongs in the garbage. I'd also add to that by saying any foods that contain Sodium Benzoate belong in the garbage as well, but that is another topic for another time.

It all boils down to how you process each one, and of course moderation.
High Fructose Corn Syrup whilst not as over debated as global warming has quite a divide in viewpoints overall in the community. There is alot of misinformation as well from both sides against and for high fructose corn syrup sites made from companies who profit off its production for example and are willing to skew things to ensure that they dont lose profit. On the other side there are advocates against high fructose corn syrup making bold associations with what it does without fully reviewing the research presented or misunderstanding key things in said research.
There are companies completely advocating it as the same as regular white sugar then there are paid studies that seem to refute said previous statements.
Lets take a look at some of the actual research being presented rather than listen to a media outlet for confirmation. I would encourage anybody to read through the research material and make comparisons first rather then seeking out news outlets and blogs for the appropiate response in regards to this.
Firstly lets look at some of the studies in defense of high fructose corn syrup being the same and having no overall effects different from consuming it. http://m.ajcn.nutrition.org/content/88/6/1716S.full.
http://m.advances.nutrition.org/content/4/2/236.full http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20086073
These are some of the major supporting ones,
Next in opposition here are two studies that are against high fructose corn syrup being the same or not having any negative effects.
The last of these studies showcases a factor outside of high fructose corn syrup and moreover its production which should at the very least be alarming regardless of difference in regular white sugar and high fructose corn syrup. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23264287 http://ehjournal.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/1476-069X-8-2
Thats what I will leave it at for the time.
