Study Month! GO!

Let's discuss study habits and hacks. Most of us here is probably still in school. With exam coming up soon, We can share a few tips and talk about the weird stuff we do to get comfy while studying. I'll start off. [Habits] I like to stuff my mouth with not junk food, but fruits (usually like an orange or a bowl of grapes) while ripping through heavy paperworks. I used to game all and night while in Middleschool, but started resisting throughout Highschool, and now I've completely quit the gaming world. (other than the casuals on my phone) The sacrifice gave me huge improvement in school. [Tips/Hacks] Wearing PJ helps me focus somehow. Having an app that manages your school timetable and event means I never forget things. (Unless you forget to put them in) There's this app called 'Alarmy' that will not turn off unless you take a picture with your camera upon waking up. The picture has to match a picture you've set up before(ie bathroom sink, wallposter). Taking a power nap (usually 30min) in between study session helped me relax and remember things quickly. Studying the night before an assessment never helps, that's why you should study the day before. LOL I learned to break my study session into a series of goals. When I complete a goal, I let myself surf the web or watch an episode of anime. Whooaaa I sound like a huge nerd QQ (far, far from it)

Music. So much music. Turn the music up to an 11 1/2. Specifically instrumental because I cannot for the life of me, write while someone's talking. It's just impossible. The music thus also helps shut out anyone nearby who might be talking. I also don't eat until I finish. I do get hungry but I find that I get too content after eating to focus properly. Plus it acts like a nice reward for studying for a few hours. From what I understand it's not only the new desire of not wanting to become uncomfortable after becoming comfortable that causes this but also our bodies follow set rhythms and patterns. I don't normally eat when at school or work so if I break the cycle and do so when I'm studying, it throws my body's rhythm out of focus. Of course, this also depends on what kinds of habits you have. But the main thing here is to "not do something unusual". Studying with friends is fun but unless you're working on the same thing together, it's a hindrance. If you happen to have someone in the same class though. Quiz one another and challenge each other. You'll find that having someone else check you can cover over areas you didn't know you were lacking. Try not to break your concentration. A rule for life I live by is: Focus on working when you're working and focus on playing when you're playing. Study time is study time, so try not to have any distractions nearby. Try to encourage yourself. It's easy to want to give up because it's tiring or boring or stressful, so it's important for you to feel good about yourself. You're doing the best you can. Stay strong!

Tips: 1) Install "StayFocusd", block some of your favorite sites (like this one obviously), and enable the Nuclear Option for 2 hours so no matter what, you can't disable it 2) Get "Forest" for iOS or Android, and grow a small tree on your phone over an hour; if you leave the app and get distracted, your tree will die 3) Open a window, fresh air will help keep you from falling asleep 4) Test yourself after reviewing content, since answering and creating questions will help you to better recall information than purely re-reading
