Back in Highschool, me and my classmates read an article about Book Smarts and Street Smarts. After that our teacher told us to pick which one is better. The majority of my class picked Street Smarts and a few picked Book Smarts.
As for me, I wasn't sure which one was better.
What do you guys and girls think about this? Which one is more suitable for you?

IF I had to pick between those two, Id have to pick street smarts. I think that having a high level of awareness socially and environmentally speaking is key to success almost anywhere. Even though some level of "book smarts" is usually needed for one ascend to any high level position, knowing all kinds of equations for example, wont save you when you have to actively interact with many people to get things done and you simply are not able to.
that's my opinion anyway. :)

I've met some awfully stupid "book smarts" people. Sure, education is great, but knowing how the world works and a little common sense goes a long way.

Intelligence holds the key to both.
I've always been a so called "book smarts" person. But anyone who can figure out how to work a door can get by on the streets. I suppose at the end of the day, you can just line up the most successful people in the world and find out if they're book smart or street smart and get your answer.

It comes down to academic or theoretical intelligence vs practical intelligence. But I would have to pick "Street Smarts". There are people who aren't as intelligent but power to the top of their careers by force of will and willingness to connect with others that can help them learn and make up for their weaknesses in academic subjects, such as mentors and internships. Other skills don't involve too many numbers or writing, such as welding or construction.

I'm neither so I wouldn't know .. If I had to guess I'd say street smart to keep it practical.

book smarts sort of just tell you stuff needed to know about jobs. money, history and most of which is pretty useless imo street smarts on the other hand is pretty much the basic knowledge you have about how to survive in the world
