I will say, if you like going to conventions, joining a convention staff that tends to go other cons to promote their own is a great way to make it to multiple ones a year and help split costs. It's how I make the handful I do each year.

I've gone to a few on my own and I think it's better because you don't have to keep up with anyone and you can do whatever you want without worrying whether the other person is enjoying themselves. It is a bit lonely though...

I'm actually going to one by myself next month in town, but I prefer going with one or two other people. It'd be more fun!
