Is horror survival dead ??

I been trying to look for a good horror game for years the best one I found was fatal frame. But haven't found anything as atmospheric or scary since resident evil 1 or dino crisis I played dead space 2 recently and thought it was quite good but used the jumpscare mechanic too much also I heard indipent game devolpers make better games these days like horror RPG maker games like witch's house mad father ib hide and seen games like outlast scp slender the arrival what's your opinion on this also any recommendations would be great

Survival horror isn't necessarily dead but we gamers surely demand the root of what made games scary back then. They're are still some bone chilling games out there such as The Evil Within, Silent Hill series, Amnesia: The Dark Descent, The Condenmed series. Still some good horror games out there. We just wish games like Resident Evil and Dino Crisis would return to the aspect of survival and not the embodiment of pure action.

@namaniiamani you mentioned all the ones I was gonna say! I'm pretty fond of the Condemned Series. To me, anything with a chilling story is what really gets me freaked out. Have you played Skin Walker? I really enjoyed that one. ^^

well if you want a good zombie survival try dead island, and dead island riptide lmao loads of fun tbh best zombie game so far plus dead island 2 is coming. dead space is really good as well although 3 sucked for me. also try cry of fear its free i think on steam or whatever and like i saw my fav streamer play it...its scary i guess? but looks really old still good though

Definitely go for indie horror games. They don't have creative limitations like major game companies. It has a creepy story and is a great hide and seek style game.

@namaniiamani silent hill is not the same as it use to be the first 3 were the best also the newest silent hill game I got is home coming @panda dead island is good but its more of an action based game and yeah I refuse. To play dead space 3

@arc I played scp in college it was amazing indi horror games seem to be doing better than most games these days if I'm honest @shaedust I never played condemned haven't played skin walker either

The last survival horror game I played was ... Typing of the DEAD ( House of the Dead 2) think rail shooter .. but with a keyboard

@shaedust I never heard of SkinWalker. Haven't played too many indie games as of late. @The UnderTaker of horror Silent Hill did take a turn for the derpness. The first three will forever be the best.
