Yea, but I don't know how many of us live near each other, if any.

My impression is we are pretty scattered. Thus this site.

Maryland you say? Wait until otakon in Baltimore, you'll find about 30,000 or so people with your interests. I hope I'm able to make it this year...kind of miss the mess of people. Psst....and I ain't to far....Just below ya in Virginia.

I know what you are going through, That's pretty much the same reason that I have joined. But I seriously second Otakon, I went one year and loved the atmosphere. There is so much to do and you can meet plenty of people. Just keep your spirits up and know that if you just act like yourself everything will be OK.

Yeah, i feel you bro. I know that feeling because i've been through all that. Ever since i got here in California, most of the new friends i meet are through online. It was tough like not going out at all when you're supposed to have fun on weekends or at your free time. I even wanted to attend some of the M&G but my schedule keeps bugging me out and sometimes financially. I am willing to attend a group gathering if theres any in my location depends with my schedule or savings i would have. So put yourself down and be depressed. There are others like us that feels the same way we do.

I've been there too. I lost a lot of "friends" down in CT after a nasty breakup. Haven't set foot in that state since last summer around CtCon time which was the last straw for me. The only real friends I have left in my area are my two best friends (who aren't into anime, but still great friends nonetheless) and my sister (who I got hooked on anime at a very young age). And a group gathering would be pretty nice. Sadly, I can't afford conventions at the moment and even if I could, I don't like big ones that have 20,000-30,000 bodies swarming about. Seems like a decent number of people posting on this topic are on the east coast, maybe northeast region. I'd consider taking time off from work to travel somewhere between Maine and Maryland (I live in Massachusetts).
