If one goes inland into South Africa there is the Kalahari desert. It rarely rains there also so I think I wouldn't enjoy it too much there. Too much ecchi/fanservice is a put off, yes. The time some anime could be using to advance the plot is used to focus obsessively on a scantily clad fanservice character. There can be a little fanservice, so long as it doesn't detract from the plot. I like an anime with mystery or action elements and occasional bits of romance.

Thanks for the compliment. I study history at an university so a lot of writing is involved. One has to learn to write quickly to pass. In the summer here it frequently gets above 35C and sometimes over 40C, sometimes a heat wave like that can last a couple of days. You get used to the heat when you live here. It snows a little in the mountains and at higher altitudes so its not easy to get to the snow. Where I live, in the Cape area, it rains a lot in the winter months. The Portuguese explorer Bartolomeu Dias called it "The Cape of Storms" when he sailed here. I think he arrived here in the wrong season. Do you like any particular genre of anime? Or is any type fine?
