Not really a series but was a Movie, was Unico my first look into anime and I did not know it at the time. Then it was Sailor Moon, Pokemon, and Monster Rancher.

Sailor Moon for me. Then again Cardcaptor Sakura was good too. But I'll go with Sailor Moon for now.
