You have two main problems here and when I say problems I mean personal interest and opinions conflicting. 1 You have people that are moral busybodies that want world peace and for everyone to be happy. EX: I talked to my good old Ma and the father of my house well in the meeting room. I asked what they thought about borders and the new addition to that border "space". This was due to the whole trump making the space force. So my mother said that she thinks boarders are sad and she wishes that people could live without them. She also said she felt sad for all the parents seeking a better life with their kids and how children were being detained. My father didn't care much about the people but the money being spent on a new form of border control which is going to fall under the Space force. He wasn't happy about another military force being added to eat up more tax. 2 Logistics and tactical dominance are needed and that means strong borders and solid data on who and how people are getting into your system. You also need to put the feels down and take a hard look at the reals people. The truth is that most of the people flooding into a nation are not seeking safety or political asylum, their seeking a better quality of life via that nations support systems. People like that don't better your nation, they weaken it. They often take resources and flood it back to there poor families back home. Weak boarders are also a security concern and a risk to the public of your own nation which should be your priority. How do you solve these and many other issues? Well, you have to fortify and make it so hard to enter illegally that it would be faster and easier to do it the legal way. Disclaimer I am not the best of people in terms of flexing my diplomacy but I am solid when it comes to flexing the tactical and military side of this so I will focus here and try to limit any diplomatic talk as in I won't suggest too many political tactics that the USA should take to better the border deals. 1. Cheap but effective physical walls such as a chain link fence. This wall does not need to be a large impenetrable force it just needs to show a line in the dirt. 2. Signs that clearly state in English, Spanish, and Chinese that this area is not safe and crossing will be met with force and or death. Much like the ones around military bases and such. 3. Have a few layers of chain fence with sizable gaps between them to save resources then at the end of the area which is deemed ideal place a small tower with an Automatic Gun Turret that's set to blast anyone that get's in a few miles of it. 4. make sure that there are signs directing traffic and people on foot to the entrance of the border. This cheap self-maintained wall will allow for more police and border control troops to focus searching and dealing with the choke point. 5. Make them bottleneck and lead them into a nice controllable choke point where the police can deal with them easily and safely. 6. do this over time and keep the budget in the realms of reality and weigh the options of what's more important the borders or some other thing.
