So I love this genre of anime and I feel it's underrated. The kind of anime that challenges the Shonen concepts of the hero always getting the girl, saving his friends, and defeating this foe with a power not even he knew he had. To see supporting characters/main protagonists die and horrific events that break sanities is powerful. When I get done watching an episode and I sit there silently thinking "holy s*** what did I just watch" I'm impressed. Without giving too much away some animes that I consider to fall into this category would be Soukyo no Fafner and Elfen Lied.

I've had the manga collection for Berserk going on for a while, I try not to read the manga online. I barely missed when the creator was 'selling' one-of-a-kind art from the manga..it was probably 3 years ago, around 75$ I think, and I was short on cash, it still depresses me to this day :'( But I do recommend the series, it was a great prolonged flashback (for the manga readers), if you enjoy the manga, you won't regret it :)

I got so into this show it's not even funny. Jeff Daniels blew me away but I have to say my favorite character is Sloan. She's so lovelably daft and that 'not taking any of your shit' face I want on a t-shirt.

My kids want to keep going to Sakura-Con, but last year was so disappointing. There were a couple highlights, but not as many as the year before. Other than Todd Haberkorn, we're not fans of US voice actors.
