Perhaps try taking control of the conversation? I know it can be tough. I tend to just go with the conversation flow myself. Still if you start talking about anime or games you'll quickly find out what they like. In fact you can use a sports conversation and transform it into an anime one! "Yeah football is cool. I really like Eye Shield 21! Have you seen it?"

Edit: Thanks everyone, but I just paid cash for a fairly large (4 bedroom+attic bdrm, 2000sqft) house in Toledo, Ohio. It was $32k, but looks amazing. If anyone is looking for a place that has insane deals on houses, come here! If you live around here, or want to move here, maybe I'd be willing to rent a room to you (for close friends, I'd only require the bills be split). Too bad I can't delete all the troll comments. Oh you should check them out on the website, they are doing things differently than in the past, you choose an alliance and each one of those allows you to choose from the three races that inhabit them, it seems pretty epic. :)

Is anyone going to be attending Anime North 2014 in Toronto in May? I go there every year, this will be my 8th time I think :D! I'm always looking for new people to hang around with while I'm down there for the weekend.
