(Continued from above post(I kid))
... they do however have the opportunity to gather all the information they need for forming a list of names relevant to an eventual genocide on the population, no need for due process once you can label people as a "threat to national security", hundreds of legislations that lets the US government do away with the rights of its citizens have been passed over the last few years.
this among others: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_Secrets_Protection_Act
When viewing the US from an external position (i.e. a non-citizen and non-resident) the impression really is that you have a totalitarian government, as an example, you have a 2 party system, with both parties being on what is considered the very very far right in the rest of the western world.
Even to the most nationalistic of parties in the danish government you guys are extremely right-side oriented.
Supposedly people came to the US seeking religious freedom, yet your government adheres to values laid forth by a single specific religion, how your alarmbells arent ringing on this 24/7 I will never understand.
to get back on topic, 1984 awesome book, though I find that "Brave new world" hits closer to home on the issue as far as todays relevance goes atleast.

I might sound like a know it all smartass. but i got the solution for you Kenshinjmc.
You almost already got the hang of it, the trick is to use pessimism to your advantage.
Say you start a new relationship tomorrow, you in your pessimism decides it wont last a week, good, convince yourself of this!
Once a week pass and you happen to be wrong, you can allow yourself to be pleasently surprised and appreciate the fleeting moments of happiness we all chase.
Now take it to the extreme, convince yourself that she would stab you in your sleep, now you get to wake up every morning being all happy your not bleeding all over the place fighting off a psycho-lady.
This have worked excellently for me through a series of years, but I would not recommend it for every aspect of your life as it burns you out after a while...
Odds are the relationship will go sour before you feel the burnout, so you can safely take a break before the drawbacks gets too overwhelming.
Drawbacks include, but are not limited to:
Increased cynicism, Apathic attitude, indifference, and in extreme cases Malice against all living things...

Cosplayer here aswell, also mainly videogame characters, but that is mostly because most anime characters work best in a team and I dont know anyone who'd join me.
Other than that I everyday cosplay a bit, when im playing "Mechwarrior" I Wear my Clan uniform, When I play "Command and Conquer" I wear my NOD beret and play with a bare chest (got a NOD tatoo over my heart), For running/workouts I'll mostly dress in 80's tracksuits, running around humming eye of the tiger.
When going to anything were I'm expected to be social I dress like a Sociopath from a cyberpunk novel (sleeveless tranchcoat, multiple hoodies, ripped urban-night-camo cargopants, big black stompy boots and a pair of banged up aviators).
Cosplaying is a lifestyle, not something you occasionally do IMO.
