It is naturally curly (like the anime girl drills curly kind of hair) but through cutting and bleaching, coloring, blow drying and straightening, etc. it so doesn't look like that through certain phases. I barely even brush my hair everyday. I can't really help because I am assuming you are black (tried looking at your profile, no pics to be found) (only because you said certain things like hair relaxers, "looking ghetto with dye in your hair," and "But my main point is, keep your hair natural...people think it looks crazy. Straighten it...people accuse you of trying to be white or denying your heritage" so I am assuming you are black, please tell me otherwise). I'm Mexican but I am white passing because I don't speak with a Mexican or Mexican-America accent and I don't know Spanish so what I say may not help, so I apologize in advanced. Overall, I think everyone really had the right idea about what they are saying to you: Just do it. You are only 17 so have fun with your hair while you can if you ever decide to get into a professional...profession like some jobs don't want unnatural hair colors. You should do whatever you are comfortable with. If you like your crazy natural hair and blue colored highlights, hold your head up high and face the world with a smile. Including your boyfriend. Yeah, people will say nasty comments but in the end, you are just being you and they need to deal with it. If they can't, it is all up to you what you believe should be done. I am just a huge advocate for doing things you want to do, especially when it comes to self-expression.
