Yeah, it was pretty much just a competition. And like I said in a different thread, Naruto and Sasuke are opposites, or foils, of each other. As Sasuke doesn't want Sakura but gets her, Naruto does want Sakura but doesn't get her. Their being complete opposites is one of the main focuses of the series. You'll see down the road that Naruto tries to make Sasuke more like him, but it doesn't take.

Normal people who like average things, talk about average topics, and lead average lives. Why would anyone possibly want to be normal? Normal people are nothing but sheep whose only hope is to one day die after living a life of meaningless existence. Those types of people bore me. Once you fully embrace who you are you will inspire those around you. My advice is to just take that 3-D animation idea you have and just do it! Who needs going outside anyways? Direct sunlight ages your hands in an unsightly way. That's more than enough reason that I avoid the sun and bask in the shade.
