“I am from…” Poem I was from broken cups, a broken radio, and a backpack. I was from obstacles; cerebral palsy, Asperger’s syndrome, and asthma. I was from a broken fence, trash cans, and an old bicycle. I was from “The preacher needs to be preached to….”, “You are a geek.” and “You are lazy and not worth anything.” I was from negative feelings like anger, depression, and hopelessness. I was from things that temporarily held me together; playing video games, eating junk food, and listening to rap songs. I was from wanting attention from other people, being acknowledged as somebody, and having a sense of belonging. I was from weather conditions; severe thunderstorms, cold snowfalls, and hail. I was from sickness, death, and hospital beds. I was from disconnecting, imploding, and dying. Now I am from flowers, combs and magnets. Now I am from surgery, counseling, and recovery. Now I am from fireflies, a house light, and a big tree. Now, I am from “I know I can!”, “I am capable of being somebody…”, “Believe in yourself!” Now I am from positive feelings like love, determination, and admiration. Now I am from things that motivate me; my family, my close friends, and positive thoughts for myself. Now I am from giving attention to others, acknowledging someone, and help someone feel like they belong. Now I am from weather conditions; sunshine, cool breezes, and clouds. Now I am from healthiness, life and porches. Now I am from connecting, exploding, and living.

I know this is a shot in the dark but are any of you Otakus residents of Guernsey, in the channel Islands?
