I didn't have a religious upbrining. my family came from a muslim country but they never practiced. My dad was pretty much an atheist. As a boy, I asked my dad what happens when we die and he said "Nothing, it's just dark in the ground." My mom didn't really care about religion either. Unless I am missing something I would have to say religion is one of those things that is missing from most animes. I'm not complaining but if the animators need to fill an episode I would rather it be an off the wall exploration of some religious topic than a typical fan service hot spring or beach episode... I confess I find death being the end of the road rather peaceful. Knowing that everyone will have to take a bite out of a dirt sandwich makes it easier to forgive and forget. It's a whole lot more fair in my opinion.
