oxytocin, also how mothers know exactly when their babies are crying even if they're not close to them. Science = magic!

What I believe love is that no matter what you may appear on the outside, what matters is the inside of the person. Who they are as an individual. Their personality. And it's because of that love, you are willing to do anything for that person even if it meant putting your life on hold for them if needed.

The thread had mutated into a discussion on Biology....rofl. Still...funny observation: Only 4 Women have commented..... Mostly Men answering.... I expected it to be the other way around..... (braces due to the fact he fully expects to be slapped) COULD it be that the guys have more to say about love EVEN though the ladies are always sooooooooo intent upon hearing it!?!? I'm starting to think that the ladies here are having trouble quantifying the depth of such a simple word.... cough cough cough......

^ Or you know, the ratio to men to women on an online dating site are heavily skewed.

Why yes, I do. However I figured logical deduction wouldn't be quite as fun as poking fun at the ladies expense. Perhaps, further fueling the discussion and moving it away from biology lesson. /shrug

...perhaps some people think biology is interesting? And, in the context of the thread, arguably on-topic?

Very true, we could sit here and break down the hard line chemical reactions that generally dictate our day to day lives, and it would be a fascinating discussion for some, and utterly boring for others But... As you eluded to earlier, the translation of those chemical reactions into feelings is far more interesting and unique to the individual; therefor making it a far better topic of discussion then just focusing on the purely biological aspects rule us from cradle to the grave. But to be blunt, the main reason I created this post was just to see how many would be willing to define what love means to them beyond just using the word to paraphrase an entire spectrum of emotions. It is very easy to post "Yes" under a "Are you looking for love" Thread. It is far harder to actually look into your own heart and define what those feelings actually mean to you.

It's that you can define love either on a basis of virtues and emotions, or you can view it as a physical phenomenon. I prefer the later over the former for the sake of convenience, in not trying to deduce everyone's schema. Now, I'm not saying our emotional quality's value is nil, but that it plays a substantial role after and with the physics and chemistry.
