So after seeing so many disappointed faces my group and I decided that we're gonna get the education necessary to open a mini con experience without the cost so we're starting a cafe called Otaku Cafe.
We're going to be based in Pennsylvania.
We have a facebook page and a tumblr account to see who will be supporting us as we reach this goal.

It's not that there's no interest. This website is rather slow at times and it might take around 24 hours before someone sees this thread. You only posted it an hour ago so it needs time to get recognition.
I'd love to help out if needed. I go to a lot of conventions in the PA/MD/NJ/NY area and if you wind up located around Philadelphia and are looking to hire, I'm always here~ But do you have any more information about it or any plans, like how you intend to set up at a convention to start? It seems most cons already have maid cafes in order.

We're going to make our start at cons until we finish school and then we'll make a business loan and that will lead until the storefront.
We're going to have to go to cons as practice.

I'm in favor of this project but I worry that the market base is too niche for it to stand on it's own. I hope this concern is invalid, and I wish you all the luck I can!

Yo this project sounds awesome, to bad it's in another state from me. I definitely need a place where I can just chill and drink tea. +1 to this

I think if you really want to start an otaku cafe you will also need to make sure non otaku will also like it so you will have a regular stream of customers. Perhaps you can focus a bit on travellers as well?
Maybe offer some cultural/travel related magazines/activities or japanese confectionary?

Id love to help out! Id deffinately travel any where in PA to experiance a otaku cafe. tho if you could, maybe have certain days for a certain genre for the waiters? I know at otakon they had a maid cafe but i wasn't interested. If there was a butler cafe day, i would be there in a heartbeat! also, to have another reason just to wear a costume or go somewhere where i dont get pointed at when i wear my anime styled wigs would be awesome.
