That not true I bet half the people on here without a Photo Pic on their profile do just fine. but I am betting some get ingnored because of their pic more often then lack of one.

I don't think so, ever heard the saying a picture is worth a thousand words, you can determine a lot more about a person other than looks from a picture, I am willing to concede that for females its a little bit different but us men have it is in terms of how we are perceived woman actually do care more about who the person is rather than what he looks like

I think it depends on the site. At a place like OKCupid, you will probably be ignored without a picture. Here, people congregate because of shared interests. If someone may want to start some sort of relationship, they can post/send a picture then and move on from there. It seems there are a lot of active members who don't have pictures, and it doesn't appear to hinder the communication. Granted, appearance does impact impressions, but it doesn't have to be the first impression.

Okay, obviously I don't have a picture up, but it's not because I lack confidence. I see that a lot of times people say that putting up a picture of yourself takes a lot of confidence, which is true, but their are plenty of other reasons for not putting up a picture. Fact is, looks do matter, and in more ways than one. A lot of people say they don't put up pictures of themselves because they are unattractive and people will judge them on it. True enough, but what about a pretty girl who's tired of guys just talking to her or hitting on her at school because of how she looks? Maybe by not putting up her picture she feels people are more willing to get to know her for who she is rather than what she looks like. People judge based on good and bad looks. For those who aren't what society considers to be attractive, by not putting up a picture they can get to meet people who won't shy away because of what they look like, and for people who are attractive, by not putting up a picture they can get to meet people who actually care about them for who they are and not what they look like. Actually, it works the same way in both cases. My point is, people do judge books by their covers, so by not offering up your cover on the internet, you're forcing people to read the pages inside instead. (^_^) Oh! And also, it was stated that it's safer to have a picture of yourself up than not. This is only true for the other guy. I mean for me, it's safer not to have my picture online but for the person I'm talking to, it's safer for them if I do. Dang, that was longer than I expected. (^_^;)

I believe that on a special interest site like this, profile pictures aren't as important as they would be on other dating sites. As DarthRane said before, a lot of other sites will ignore a user without a picture of themselves. But on this site all the users already have common interests, and that is more than enough to spark conversation. If things progress, then maybe some users will share their face with a couple of people, or eventually put up a public picture of themselves, but they aren't obligated to and shouldn't feel any pressure to do so. If a profile picture is what's preventing one person from talking to another, then obviously things need time.
