I have also seen chimpanzees do some messed up stuff to its own kind. Chimps sure do have a funny way of interpreting human ethics. https://www-livescience-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/www.livescience.com/amp/57714-chimps-kill-mutilate-cannibalize-other-chimp.html?amp_js_v=a3&_gsa=1&usqp=mq331AQFKAGwASA%3D&jwsource=cl https://www.livescience.com/57714-chimps-kill-mutilate-cannibalize-other-chimp.html

I never said chimps had ethics, nor does that have anything to do with my argument. Can I ask again for the trait?

yh did read the experiment...I think it was just that the rodent was trying to get himself out of the box quickly cause I think they did the experiments until the rodent saved the other one drowning so the rodent was just trying end the experiment quickly just to get himself out of that box which was not home to it ^^

I think the researchers that did the various versions of the experiments would have come to that conclusion if it was true, though

umm yh not really clear from what that article says...but if they took out the rodents out of the box as soon as the rodent saves the one drowning it will try and get out much quicker the next time causing it to workout the mechanic much quicker ^^

Animals are not people. They don't have a society or moral compass like humans. Also we have morals as a way of keeping the peace and learning to live optimally with each other as fellow people. You want me to name a trait but that is something you yourself can't fully explain. You only extrapolate from personal desire. You wish for what a person is to be what it is not. A fox cannot reliably communicate its desire for equal rights. A chicken has never told me to stop eating it. And a wolf has never wrote to me in a letter to tell me it was sorry for the fellow animals it killed.

the rat wouldnt have known that during the first rounds of the experiment though its put in the box, offered chocolate and shown a drowning buddy id say it would just as easily taken the chocolate as that would also end the experiment as well as given him a yummy treat

umm that depends on the animal the first few times sure the chocolate treat will kick its hormones up so it wil be enough to satisfy it..but as it gets used to the treat it starts realising the new cage and box they are placed in so then tries to get out obviously ^^

if you make the rodent get used to that box as its home if it is where the rodent usually lives ...and tries that experiment again the results might differ ^^
