Political rants

hell_hound7
If it was written by this journo, where did they get it from? Who did they interview? What is their position? Why are they involved. Like they can pay anyone to write a story doesnt mean its a true one.

"Fortifying our election"

@jacobl89 Well there is a reason why I trust my own eyes more than the words of some random person who I am expected to assume is correct. They are always trying to frame the news a certain way. One photo that I always use to represent this idea. https://i2.wp.com/galeri2.uludagsozluk.com/307/yandas-medya_481216.jpg @hell_hound7 Pickle Rick is not funny.

@jacobl89 True, and responsible news outlets actually correct themselves as more information falls into place. We mods have had to do that before on complicated issues. Panda, Lambi and I all know what sifting through conflicting information is like. (Remember the Vargus case?) The difference between our site and the real world is we have to rely on news outlets, but none of us trust them, so we have a tendency to cherry pick what to believe.

Basically a pretty solid example. Sure i have my friends but if someone calls them out for shit i also gotta count on my counterparts to do their job to reach a resolution. No different. We have our opinions but the ultimate end goal is the same. We all want fairness and order. We just dont agree on how to get there. Same with politics.

@chocopyro Fighting for a cause isn't wrong. The problem is when one accepts batshit stupid solutions movements bring up because they are desperate for change. This is especially prominent in social movments when they become mass movements, where every single idiot (aka cattle) or madman is able to get their voice heard. I, for one was something near this when it came to social movements. "The cause is good, hence their means and ends are completely justifiable"? I was (I actually still am) an idiot, and thus easily influenced by my social circle to accept immorality for a cause. I learned that we must strive for reformation without overthrowing our own individualities and the good things on society. Madmen in social movements are those who are willing to force the opposite to others, and for now they are becoming the rule and the most vocal in said movements. But that's just me. I cannot trust someone when they say they want to bring upon the better world.

I like to cite Eric Voegelin: "Do not immanentize the eschaton!"
