Post in forums and chat with people. Get to know the people here and let them get to know you. Build relationships over time with the people you enjoy interacting with. It's easier said than done but it's worth in the long run. Do it long enough and you'll be rewarded with plenty of friends and maybe more.

Unfortunately that happens a lot here. Some may come back, others probably won't. Basically do as Neet said. Join for forums, message some people, and don't be a creeper. That's all you can do really.
