Gift Giving Etiquette part 2

I received a rocking chair as a gift and it's very lovely, but the person I got it from said they had made less than $80 in the last 2 weeks.
The chair itself was brand new and worth $140.
Now I appreciate gifts, but I find it completely frustrating that they would ignore their own needs to do me a favor I especially had no immediate need for.
I have an outdoor swing so a rocking chair is redundant. Plus I have so many chairs in my house you would think I ran a classroom.
My point is I don't like getting gifts from people who are struggling especially when I know I will have to bail them out in the coming months for being behind on payments.
I wish people would spend time with me without it coming down to money or favors.

There, there, Aleph. Shush now and go to sleep.
Rock a bye Aleph, on the tree top,
When the wind blows the cradle will rock.
When the bough breaks the cradle will fall,
And down will come Aleph, cradle and all.
Rock a bye Aleph, gently you swing,
Over the cradle, Gabriel will sing,
Sweet is the lullaby over your nest
That tenderly sings my Aleph to rest.
From the high rooftops, down to the sea
No one's as dear as Aleph to me
Wee little hands, eyes shiny and bright
Now sound asleep until morning light
Rock a bye Aleph, on the tree top,
When the wind blows the cradle will rock.
When the bough breaks the cradle will fall,
And down will come little Aleph, cradle and all.

Reminds me of the time I went out of my way to make an e-birthday card for my first ex.
Waste of time but hey, I gained e-card crafting exp. XD

See I can appreciate that because it didn't put you out of needed income plus it meant more because you made it yourself.

Didn't someone also irresponsibly give you a pet you didn't need?

Different individual. This seems to be the way of it though.
I only start getting random gifts when suddenly there are bills that need paying or the person wants me to take responsibility for maintaining their possessions so they can reap the benefits 'owning' it.

Since you don't need it, you should sacrifice it to Willie Nelson, burn it as an effigy.
