@sparkis Sorry! I think there was a misunderstanding between us. I am specifically mentioning the consciousness of humans. Not artificial consciousness.

@truffle A Mechanical sensor has AI, Artificial Intelligence. It's a machine. It was designed by those who made it to sense things. That does not mean it has consciousness, A human has consciousness. Machines and Humans do not behave the same way. And an atom does not have a consciousness.

@amir_bahram Then that means yours statement that consciousness is being aware of environment becomes invalid. You may argue that it was made to be that way, but that is an invalid argument, because it still has awareness of its surroundings. Other than being aware of the environment, what else do you think consciousness is?

Yes, robots with sufficiently expanded Artificial Intelligence are aware of their surroundings. The way their awareness is shaped is by firstly letting the A.I learn from watching others(Usually videos) doing something, so that a basic understandment could be shaped. After that the next step is usually a trial and error method where the A.I gets "punished" for doing something wrong. After it gets punished, the A.I usually does not repeat the same thing again, in turn shaping some sort of awareness similar to humans. So for example it is common knowledge in humans that nettles sting and should not be touched. A.I is introduced to the nettle by being shown various images and videos with it present. After that the A.I gets to choose what to do when it sees a nettle. If A.I touches the nettle, it gets punished and does not do it again.

@marcus_k My estimate is that he is conscious 40% of the time powered by rage and the other 60% is just weed and bourbon.
