118 million can go to fucking gambling but $2,000 cant go to the people literally keeping this country alive. Are some of these politicians retarded? When things go south who do you think will be going after the heads of these politicians? What are they gonna do send the police in? Its one thing to defend against terrorists, its another against innocent citizens. You take care of your own people or end up being dragged down with them.

Political corruption at it's finest. There is a reason why the government is so hated these days.

Other countries hate us for reasons media outlets do not disclose. My friends from other countries told me a bit.

So, going off of what I was saying before, "I believe its more of a matter that the USA stopped considering itself as part of the world in general (culturally). After the end of the Cold War, we had no clear enemy to be united against, so we either sat on our laurels, or turned inwards. However, that, I feel, was just a continuation of what was being done on a societal level."
In general, what I was trying to get at, was the cultural aspect of the US, obviously, the government was not going to become completely isolationist overnight after the fall of the wall. With the Soviets being no more, and the US still sitting on top of the charts of developed countries, there really wasnt any real competition anymore, at least at that point. As a way to sate ourselves, there were things done with China to make it the new go-to for cheap manufacturing, but that was extremely short-sighted. Those who advocated for giving so much power to such a possibly volatile country, basically handed China the keys that the US had to used to sit on top in the 20th century, so China can be the new king of the 21st century.
The only reason the US was able to be the only world superpower, was mostly luck. We were one of the very few advanced nations that were relatively untouched by the destruction and carnage of WWII, so as other countries were busy getting their shit in order and recover from the devastation, we had no real mess to clean up, and were poised with the war-time production abilities needing an outlet. The thing is, its been over 80 years now since the beginning of WWII, so many advanced nations have mostly caught up, and we have new kids on the block as well. Every country is going to try to fight for itself to be at the top, or at least be in a very comfortable position, so all of the fighting between major powers has ceased to be with militaries, and instead, we are all fighting economically.
You see the continual progression of our popular culture to be more isolationist, and it has gotten quite noticeable especially recently. In the Cold War, it was NATO vs the Soviet bloc, we saw ourselves as "the leader of the free world", and I would argue that there was a explosion of positivity to other nations (obviously within NATO and our key allies). I feel like things started to cool off shortly after the Cold War, and we were more riding off the coattails of the Cold War for the support of NATO countries, and 9/11 brought back some of that solidarity and being "part of the global community" to a degree for a while. If you look especially in the last decade or so, you see a continual push for the "America First", and the delusional slogan of "Make America Great Again", as if the US was this perfect utopia in the 80s (arguably, Reagan was the beginning of the end of the US, due to his policy decisions on deregulation and expanding corporate power). I also feel like 2010 was the final nail in the coffin for the fading of the US into mediocrity, or worse, as that was when the Citizens United Case was decided, which allowed for unlimited and non-transparent donations by corporations to political causes, as money was ruled to be a form of speech, this protected under the 1st amendment. The powers that would be able to stop this capitulation have all been mostly declawed, all thanks to the pro-deregulation crowd.
I am all for capitalism, but capitalism works best when it is well regulated (to a point), else you dont get any fair competition. Poorly regulated capitalism stifles growth, stability, and innovation. Everything is pointing to a "Golden Age 2.0", as that is what seems to be on the horizon if things don't change.
On the subject of Trump, he is not completely brain-dead. He has made the right calls on certain things, like the CCP being a legitimate threat. As I noted before, it is the way that he approaches the problems that is woefully incompetent. He sees everyone that isn't licking his boots, as a potential enemy. Trump is not the cause of our problems, he is a symptom, a flare-up, that is accelerating the fading of our civilization. Biden cant, and wont do jack to reverse our decent.

Completely off from US, but...
Today my country's fucking president said "the country is broken" and that he "can't do anything anymore".
I cannot fucking believe he said something like that in such a crisis. The amount of investments and the little international prestige we will lose!
Fucking mofo!

Just as Egyptians, Romans, Aztecs, British and other empires before. The fall of an empire. Albeit all fell for different reasons. All previous empires inevitably fell. It is only a matter of time before the fall of the US empire. Yes, the US is an empire. If anyone doesn't think that. I'll be happy yo debate that point. China is literally building islands in the ocean. Expanding their territorial waters. China is trying to form their own empire. It is only natural that the US empire would see China as a threat. Likewise, China also sees the US as a threat. Maybe someday China will overtake the US as the main global empire. Then some other empire will rise up and overtake China. The fall of old empires and rise of new empires. History repeats itself. It is cycle of human civilization.

I was curious about what people thought of the US. Since I no longer do MMO style games, I feel disconnected. I used to be in a predominantly Aus/New Zealand clan with a sprinkle from England and Ireland.

I had a girlfriend from Malaysia and she always thought americans were super racist. As she was also muslim and how there is this big rumor going around we hate all of islam due to 9/11. I was like dumbfounded at the way people perceive america. It doesnt help that more prominent figures and news outlet push out content that paints us in a bad light. I saw this first hand while in the middle east. On the local news they were telling a different story than what cnn was pushing out. While the local news was more unbiased. CNN was acting more unamerican THAN THE NON-AMERICANS. Saying how general soleimani was a good man (when actually we only "assassinated him" cuz he was funding militia groups that kiled our soldiers and we only retaliated) then when trump said he was going to attack cultral sites omg CNN took that and ran with it. While BBC simply stated it was a war crime and then showed other news keeping it moving.
