I admire the samerai. They are definitely the most honorable warriors to ever exist in history. My favorite weapon from the Edo period was the Naginata. It was a spear like weapon with a small katana blade at the tip

I get the love for the samurai, and I'm definitely in the minority (especially on this site), but Bushido had nothing on the Chivalric Code

Samurais are kind of a mixed bag. While it is true they held their honor as the most important of their interests, it is also notable that many of them had very non ethical practices, for example, samurais often slaughtered Innocents when trying the sharpness and durability of their new Katanas. It's unclear if they did the same with Naginatas or Yaris for the sake of experimentation, only on swords it seems to have been a common practice. Samurais often behaved like European knights towards serfdom, so while their galantry as the ultimate warrior is well deserved, they were far from noble. There's a reason why the common folks didn't openly supported them on their insurrection, for the common farmer a samurais problem was none of their concerns, just a spoiled rich man whinning that his era was over
