I will back Sadjester's Death Parade recommendation as the all time greatest show. Its choice of subject matter is quite deep for an Anime to cover. With how respectful it goes about telling each character's history and motive is narratively impressive. Color, music, emotional variety, tonal consistency, and amazingly drawn detailed characters makes this series stand out from its cousin show Death Note. I must say Death Parade deserves the #1 spot! Giving this thread a free bump! As much as I want to have my favorite show win uncontested I'd rather see people actually discuss anime for a change. Memes are nice but discussion is what I crave. Plus I do enjoy learning about other's likes.

i second death parade being up on the list also seconding puella magi, (i think) it launched the whole morbid dark mahou shoujo genre tokyo ghoul is high on the list as well because its manga is one of the best selling manga of all time (even if the anime was lacking) some special considerations to soul eater and k-on i dare say that the number one anime of this decade should be naruto like it or not a lot of us got started on naruto as a kid and it hooked us like a gateway drug to better and more hardcore anime for fuck sake it first aired in 2002 and its STILL GOING ON hate it or love it, naruto was the biggest anime of this decade and it should be put on number one https://media3.giphy.com/media/eXKUC4ic17m7u/giphy.gif
