Edit: the text below no longer reflects my opinion; self regulation seems to work much better, I'd recommend the barbell medicine training programmes
------------------------------
Heads up for people that want serious strength gains; Starting Strength is probs one of the universally best strength training programmes/communities.
The rundown is that simple, compound lifts 3x a week with linear progression of weight on the barbell, paired with a good diet and sleep are your best bet.

in addition to my post,
https://youtu.be/4T9UQ4FBVXI
this series of videos details the movements quite well; there's lots off stuff like that, articles, forums, a fb group and even an app and a book detailing the movements and explaining the thought process behind everything
really great for a noob

@Acacia, you thought of making a discord server for this? Something cringy like 'MO Gainz' xD Mutual motivation, support and information sharing in a place like that could really move things along

see, I tried doing stuff like this but I always go back to my old habits. I think you should make a discord server on this so you get the support from you're fellow gym buddies? Motivation is very helpful

mhm, mhm, consistency can be a bish. I don't really need it, since it's important as heck for my basketball and that's motivation enough, but if some people show interest in the idea, I'm down

yep Riku, you're kinda right, I'd agree mostly on the motivation part. A reason. A well defined reason for doing something, progressive goals and a schedule are much better.

Call me shallow, but my motivation comes from how I wanna look for other people. Self-motivation is good, it should always be an element, but it's fragile, and that's why so many people (including myself) give up on it. Athletes train to achieve their goals of winning, and for money. Celebs do it to fulfill their role in their upcoming movie, leading to fame and fortune. Whenever I get back into a routine, it's always been because I want to look the best I can for a girl I'm into, or just simply cuz it feels good to be told I have a nice body! :D

I don't have the time to run a discord. Sorry bros. IRL life comes first.

Ressurection! Okay... things haven't gone well for me. But with my new situation I will force myself back into fitness. And hopefully this thread will do it!
