While he is a bad guy and not above killing, he also has a code of honor that almost makes him heroic. Key word is almost. He isn't over the top and is calm and cool at virtually all times, even when he is taking damage. His final scene is rather moving.

Favorite Anime villain: Walter C. Dornez from Hellsing Ultimate! https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/villains/images/8/8e/EvilWalterDornez.jpg I enjoy his need to defeat Alucard to the point of giving up everything he stands for only because at the end of the day... He really just wants senpai to notice him lol! Plus I think he is a beautiful man with a great sense of fashion! Favorite comic villain: Deathstroke from DC series (Teen Titans/Various Movies, Games, Stand Alone Comics) https://www.screengeek.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/ronperlmandeathstroke-768x436.png Slade Wilson is a powerful mercenary who fights for the value of his own pride more than wealth or status. Deathstroke is a man of his own making and isn't beyond doing the dirty work himself if others prove too useless in making the cut. Everything from his fighting style, to array of gadgets, and being voiced in the animated Teen Titans by Ron Perlman makes Slade the best bad guy ever in western comics! Video Game Villain: Kuja of Final Fantasy IX (9) https://giantbomb1.cbsistatic.com/uploads/original/0/1433/235593-kuja.jpg Kuja resonated with me at an early age not because of his looks, but because of his raw personality! In the beginning he comes across as a Narcissistic manipulator of various tragic wars going on between kingdoms. Overly cruel to anyone he feels is below his station, Kuja often mocks beings such as Vivi's race as inferior puppets without souls or individual identity. However as more evil players in the form of Garland enter the scene we start to see cracks in Kuja's perfect mask. He becomes more human and relatable when it is revealed he was created much like Vivi's race to serve an autonomous function in the machine of planetary destruction! Lacking soul or self-purpose, Kuja originally was supposed to have been replaced by his fellow younger counterpart Zidane. However having gained a conscience and a sense of self worth, Kuja hid Zidane away from Garland on the very world he was destined to destroy. As time moves forward and Zidane grows into a good man willing to fight for the world despite all its flaws, his brother Kuja ultimately starts to have a change of heart about destroying the planet having made his own home and life amongst the various nobility that rule over Gaia. Then at the end Garland makes one final push to get Kuja to return to his original function successfully turning Kuja into the weapon he originally was to be. Destroying not only Gaia but the whole of life itself, Kuja's rampage is only stopped because of his brother Zidane's will to live happily with his friends and adopted family. This family including Kuja because Zidane recognizes the inner humanity that initially existed in Kuja before being manipulated by Garland. It does not excuse Kuja of his sins, but gives him the closure to his own personal pain of existence and self-decided purpose. Though he dies at the end, Kuja shows he isn't beyond saving as he gives his brother the last of his power to live in a new world free of destruction or manipulation. One of the only Final Fantasy villains to have a completed arc and full character development.
