It's actually (please don't tell anyone I told you this...) parts of a ritual, to honor the God "Inst", also known as "Agram" in other languages. It is said this god watches over anyone whom is eating a decent looking dish, and will strike down fury and death on anyone whom do not share picture of the said food. This is, however, a secret protected by the PHOTOGRAPHERS, as they call themselves. An evil cult. Telling you this puts both our lives in danger, but I cant pretend to be this blind anymore!

It's wanting to share, use it as a memento, blog, proof or even to show off by expressing "hey, I ate this" or other reasons altogether. I like to share with others what I ate if it was special or just feel like doing so. plus what Lo said! Expressing your love and appreciation for the food is another one!

Well, a rare amount people do it and take pictures of healthy food to spread a healthy living....but most people I've seen just do it to show off all the cool dishes and restaurants they go to....and there ain't much wrong with that, as long as they're posting it to savor and look back on it as a worthy experience. Like say, taking a picture with your family at the restaurant or of some food you've never seen before that looks really weird, huge, and unorthodox is a memorable experience....posting that you successfully made a dish or meal for the first time is also memorable experience....I don't care much for posting things like that, so I ignore social media like Instagram, but to each their own....but people who post it to seek validation and confidence in their cooking through others remarks is not....literally just taking a picture of any food that's in front of you, having dozens of pictures of nothing but food in your gallery, with having no captions, and with plenty of hashtags just for the hell of it or for attention, is obnoxious...
