Are you a closet otaku?

Yeah I try not to make it too obvious. Seems like the more open people are about it the more obnoxious or cringy they tend to be, so I rather not get associated with them or have coworkers asking me about the stuff. Lot of people out there assume if you like anime you're probably some pathetic autistic pedo manchild creep or something. Who needs that kind of trouble?

Family: My family knows I'm an Otaku, and some of them are technically one. Sister has seen Ouran High School and loves it and that's really it as far as I know. I watch JoJo with my brother an any other Dub anime he seems interested in. Before an argument happens, he just hates reading subtitles, that's why he likes Dub more than Sub. Mother is fine with it, confused on certain things and questioning certain "scenes" (Thanks Kill La Kill ^_^") Father doesn't understand any of it, so..... ------------ Friends: (I really put this in?) I'm a bit more hardcore than them, but we don't hide it. We embrace it, so long as we don't overdo it of course. ------------ Other: If the topic of Anime, Manga, Video Games or anything similar comes up, I just join in and flat out admit "yeah, I'm an otaku" if it's brought up. I actually have a few coworkers that are anime fans, and one is really good at drawing and learning Japanese. One of my Leads (2nd in command if the Boss isn't around) watches DBZ only (as far as I know) and a 50 to 60 year old man who has a nephew who loves pokemon and he asks me question on Anime/Manga. Like "Can you tell which ones are the boys and which ones are the girls?" While reading at work. I said "sometimes you can't at first" (<- I'm not wrong, right? Traps are a thing and I never mentioned them to him) ------------- I dress casually, but when something otaku-ish comes up, I'm joining in on the conversation. Just wish some people didn't have the wrong impression on us at times. I can understand that some anime (Shimoneta, Queen's Blade, To-Love Ru, Monster Musume, etc) can bring a whole LOT of questions and wrong impressions. But I don't want to get derailed here, so I'll stop right there. Basically, I don't hide it, but I don't overdo it. Just respect my lifestyle, even if you don't approve it and I'll respect yours even if I'm not fond of it. (I had something else to type, but it slipped my mind)

Not at all. I could care less if people disagree. When I like something I say it. If they judge and don't like me for anime loving then that's their problem. I don't need to be around them. I never considered us anime lovers as trash. Just an interest lots of people have.

I don't go out of my way to express it to the world, but I'll occasionally wear an anime shirt or something, and I do have a Pokemon wallet. If anyone has a problem with what I like, they probably have issues they need to work out with themselves. I guess what I'm saying is, I don't really care about hiding any of my interests.

And that's how it should be. Don't hide it and don't bother what others think. Awesome, what kind of Pokemon Wallet?

Just has Pikachu, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and Charmander on it. Oldschool xD

Respect for oldschool.

I wear my interests. I have no reason to be ashamed of who I am or what I like. I know how to sell it to the masses as well, so it's not like I'm coming across as that guy nobody wants to talk to because he only talks about startrek.
