Nostalgia

How does it feel? Do you experience it often? Does it have any value to you and persons other than yourself? Is it abused without you noticing such as a reaction that turns your emotions against you blocking clear and correct representations of reality? To me, it's an inexperienced phenomenon and I see it as a tool and an emotional reaction with some benefits to individuals but a blueprint making it easy to bend people. A mindset fogged up further messing up the already blurry past and perceptions of the mind.

Nostalgia sucks. I feel it all the time, it's as if I'm trapped in the illusion of better times in the past. I'm never enjoying the present, just thinking about past events that now seem good to me. In fact, it's a brain trick that makes you forget the bad stuff and you think it was a lot more sugary than it really was. Nostalgia is not helpful, it's actually pulling you back.

I have been feeling strong nostalgia for earlier days since I was like 6, before I even knew what it was. So you could say I dwell in it constantly. That said, I can't say the present is all that bad either. Life was simpler back then, not better or worse. To me, its more an energy or a longing. A way of the mind coming to terms with how good you had it in the past, which only goes to show you should appreciate the present, because even this will change. And even if it sucks right now, there's something from right now that you are still going to loose later. And it will nag at you then, just as the past nags at you now. Hope that makes sense.

Yeah, I feel nostalgic for days gone by every now and again. However, if I think about those days then I realize that I'm only remembering the good times and not really the bad times. In college I remember being in close proximity to my friends, but there was also the stress of classes, studying for the MCAT, and my extracurricular activities. It's nice to think back on from time to time, but I'm happy where things are in my life and I'm not really longing to go back to those days. Of course I can only speak for myself.

It'd be nice to go back to better times. Everything only seems to get worse and worse.

Neeto I wish we could quote posts because I completely agree.

Hmm, Well thank you for the information and I'll filter these out but it's going to be hard as it seems to be a strong emotional response to the environment. It's basically a waste product but soon it should be a fine product with a purpose.
