Virtually impossible to find girls who like anime IRL?

beherit
There are plenty of girls that I know of who enjoy anime, the problem is they enter one of the three categories: (1: Underaged, 2:Obese, 3: Taken). The only girl I met who did not fall into that category I met at college, but she must have had aspergers or something because despite my best efforts to make a conversation, she was just... painfully awkward.

Don't go out seeking "must like anime", rather, just find someone with whom you click. There's more to life than cartoons. Besides, plenty of people who don't watch anime on a regular basis, will watch it with someone they like. My wife, she's not "into anime", but we can sit and watch some from time to time and she enjoys it. What I've seen a lot of on here is, "She must be obsessed with anime, because that's all I know.". Well, have other conversational starters and besides, you really don't want to be with anyone who has any kind of true obsession. If they're obsessed with anime, you'll always hold second place to a cartoon (And really, a huge lack of maturity/emotional development.).

I agree with yaasshat. Get to know the girl for awhile, and if she does end up liking anime then it can be a happy coincidence. Or rarely the girl might actually want to get into anime just because you are into it. Don't push it onto her. Let her ask you first.

What? "Waifu"? Clearly you jest, no mature adult would say nor act like that in real life. And what does it mean to dress and act like a "waifu" anyways? My point was, it's not a wise idea to focus on liking anime as the make or break reason. I said watching anime is fine, it's obsessing that becomes the issue. Meh... Cherry pick away, my friend. Even this will be read how you wish to view it, rather than how I intended it.

Yaasshat is right. Unless you and the person you're with both only watch anime and do nothing else, one side of the relationship is going to get tired. Even then, its very possible that the relationship will fail. Me personally, I would like to find someone where anime is a staple, but not just the one thing we do together. Typically when I see someone whose obsessed over anime like Yaasshat mentions, they're usually obsessed over a specific show. I'd like to see someone who was energetic about anime, but liked to do other things as well, or was open to doing other things.

I feel like it's challenging because watching anime is generally something people will do from the comfort from their homes, as a result, unless they are doing something to publicly display they have an interest in anime in the outside world, there's just no way to know until you actually get to know someone. I don't feel like I personally have a way to meet such people outside of conventions, so that leaves me with the internet with people that generally don't seem to live close (which can be the case at conventions as well...). I remember my senior year of high school there was technically an anime club, but it was so dead, makes me wonder if anime is or was just really unpopular in my area. I kind of just don't give it much thought anymore, I pretty much agree with some here that the most important thing is just finding someone you click with, and if they don't currently like anime then maybe they'll like it at least a little bit later.

Doesn't look like I can do a reply to the comment above so I'll just do this. (X) Doubt
