Do friendships last forever in life?

I have been through friendships before, and none of them lasted since my childhood, obviously, from my elementary to middle to high school, then in college, most of them were gone. Anyone ever had that experience where you had a certain friend but, they stopped being friends for a long or short time?

A lot of people have had that experience. In middle school my best friend at the time and I just stopped hanging out as we got to eighth grade. I didn't know what the issue was, since when we did talk we laughed as much as we usually did, but eventually we just stopped talking all together and went to different high schools. Ironically enough, I actually reconnected with the guy this past year and we've started hanging out again. However, there's a lot of friends I had in high school that we just stopped talking and probably won't reconnect. I remember seeing one post on tumblr, where the OP wondered how many of her friends in high school were friends just because they saw each other five times a week. Turned out for me, it was all but one. Thankfully I met plenty of college friends and formed deep connections with them, and we still talk and hang out when we can.

This is a stupid forum ~ Do you think friendships last ~? Every friendship whoever is on this damned website has online friends and rl friends ~ Obviously if your here on this damned site that your rl friendship never lasted, why who the fuck knows ~ People change, time changes its not gonna be like how it was 4-5 years ago, everyone has there own life to change and that means dropping some friends that wasnt important to them now unlike it was 4-5 years ago ~ HS friends are usually never gonna be your friend after HS ends, same with college and such ~ Unlike online friends they can still drop you and leave within an instant why because your never gonna see em nor meet with them and even if you did planned it within 2 years ago and all of a sudden POOF they vanished like they wernt even born ~ Wat im saying is, friendship doesnt last unless you lock em in your garage and kill em so that they wont ever leave your site and if that happens then you all need help ~

They can, but like any other kind of relationship there has to be some effort put into it. Ive been friends with some of my best friends for 20 years, pretty much my entire life.

I've become kind of a pessimist. I treat everyone as a passing fancy so I don't get hurt when they inevitably leave. If we talk we talk. If we hang out we hang out. It really just depends on who you meet and whether or not there is chemistry and you click.

No my longest lasting relationsship aside from family is like 5 months. Atm

I would like to think it does. However, sometimes you oath to part ways in life. Yet if our paths cross again. I would still treat them with the same friendship.
