WOULD YOU DATE/MARRY A DISABLED PERSON?!?!?!?!

throwaway10123
I am a active member on here but I made a throwaway because nobody on here knows that I am disabled (mute, can't verbally speak...) or that I am a pre-op MtF trans lady. The question is not about my trans-status though! Would you or would you not date///marry a person that is disabled in some way (like having a speech disorder or being in a wheelchair...)? I'm just curious.

It all depends on the personality, of course. If I'd really like the girl(this includes transsexuals, but only if they have become a female fully) it doesn't matter. Of course it's more difficult to ''fall in love'' with someone who has a disability, at least for me, but it's not impossible. There just has to be dedication and love for the other person.

Sure. Why not? I mean, they say silence is golden.I'll let myself out on that bad joke.XD Seriously though, I'd have absolutely no reason to say no. I think many people feel like it'll limit what they can do or maybe they just don't know how to treat people like people.I will say this since you brought it up, I personally wouldn't date a transgender. But, that's not to say I'm against transgenders, it's just my lack of attraction towards them. Really, I don't think being mute(or any disability) or transgender should be an issue, as long as you're straightforward with people. But, don't expect that everyone should be attracted no matter what, we all do have personal preferences after all.

I cant say for certainty how I would handle it without being in a situation like that or at least similar, but upfront i dont have any problems with it, yes It would probably take time to adapt and get used to the situation but physical appearance or ailment isn't really what I look at first.
cinnamoon
Absolutely, if the attraction is there. I'd just learn how to adapt. No biggie.

If I genuinely loved this hypothetical disabled person then yes, I would.
taletellerinabox
Yeah I would, I mean if I loved that person is because I accept it as a whole not only a part of it.

As long as we're into the same kind of stuff and I found her at least somewhat attractive. I don't know about marriage, I'll least give her a fair chance. Also, I grew up with a stutter, so I would understand if they had a speech disorder.

The first impulsive reaction is "yes, of course love doesn't care". But I'll be honest some disabilities are harder to overcome than others, being mute, blind of deaf for example isn't really a big deal for me. But some disabilities, especially those that make physical contact harder/impossible can be a deal breaker. But then again, if I love someone I'll manage. I know this isn't the nice thing to say but at least it's honest.

Depends on the disability, but if there's enough of an attraction there then sure why not. Mute for example I think I could live with, blind would be a bit iffy, and amputee would probably weird me out too much to be honest. Mental disability's wouldn't be much of an issue I think since I'm used to being around such people. I'd almost say I'd be more comfortable around one that a normal.
