Anyone given up on hollywood ?

Was wondering if anyone has kind of given up on modern cinema in general ? I honestly haven't felt like i've seen a decent movie since interstellar. Especially with this superhero bandwagon, even with being the huge batman and superhero geek that i am, Batman vs Superman was a pretty big disappointment to me. With marvel and now dc pumping out films, they feel all the same to me. Rushed, bad character development, and a shit ton of CGI. Your typical big budget action blockbuster. I haven't even bothered with suicide squad yet and i certainly don't feel pumped about the new justice league, ditched X-men way back after the wolverine. Even Assassin's Creed, like for god sake they had Kanye playing in the trailer lol, the new King Arthur movie, nothing medieval about it. My bad this turned into a rant, but i honestly don't even bother with movies anymore unless its something worth while.

Yes. Most movies are just glorified commercials. That or they are white-washed to the fullest and I can't enjoy the movie cause I know the origins of the story or I read the book and producers really think that if you take a book and make it a movie without using the book as a reference, the people will like it. Fuck em. That's why I'm writing a book and I can't wait to make it a movie produced by me, myself and I. fuck hellywood

Movies today are better than they have been in years. Not all of them obviously, but for every stupid Chipmunk movie, there are a couple of other movies that are good. Star Wars Episode VII and The Lego Movie were awesome and most of the modern Marvel movies are cool and fun to watch. Suicide Squad wasn't great, but it was highly enjoyable. And, you have to admit that animated movies these days have really stepped up their game. If you want to talk about a bad time for Hollywood, look back at the late 90's to 2001. That was probably the worst era for movies. Movies got hyped, but a lot of them turned out to be pretty crappy. Godzilla 1997 and the Jurassic Park sequels were huge disappointments, and if you want to see a truly bad DC movie, go rewatch Batman & Robin or Batman Forever. Anyway, I just wanted to put in my two cents. If you don't like a lot of the modern movies, then that's a shame but I respect your opinion. Just remember that they would've been made a lot worse back then.

@Kichigai Do you have any idea how hard and time-consuming making a movie is? Are you really going to do the entire movie yourself? How are you going to finance it? Even indie films need a budget.

Gunvolt, i guess i didn't mean the entire film industry, you're right there are a few gems out there, but although the 90's was a funky era for cinema at least they weren't pumping out remakes every year. For example i can't believe already there's a new spider-man "homecoming", same story peter parker as a highschool student gets bullied then gets his powers etc. I would think it would be a lot more interesting to get past that origin story since its already been beaten to death. And Batman vs Superman, had Zack Snyder actually sat down to play the Arkham games a bit, read a comic or 2 to get a good idea of what to bring in his film rather than turning it into his own collage and manifestation of the original story.

Kichigai, that's awesome don't give up on it man, keep grinding, and let me know if you have any extra auditions :) Seriously, i have always been fascinated by acting, and i'm heavily into martial arts and a competitive fighter. I really wanna slowly step my foot in the industry but it's horrible. SOO MANY fake agencies that seem sketchy, will take your money and never call you back, tons of restrictions like meeting the requirements of an acting union before you can join, all in all a very shady industry at least where i'm from. It's such a dog-eat-dog environment. I have an aquiantence in stunt acting, he actually had a role in suicide squad as a henchman, but he doesn't seem to keen on how to guide someone into the industry and show me the works. I guess a big part of life is about connections, and who you know. Maybe once i get a good camera i will try to upload some of my own technique/stunt compilations, although i gotta get into parkour and tricking to learn some of those aerials.

I almost did when I watched Batman vs Superman. Superman could had saved all those people like Quicksilver did but the idiot acted like a drama queen & closed his eyes instead! Then I watched Sausage Party & gave me hope in Hollywood again.

yeah haha Sausage Party was hilarious ! But i heard that Seth Rogan was working on that script for a long time, a lot of effort was put into the making of that.
