I'd probably say to myself; "whelp, that blows. Time to find another one."

neet got it. Can't do anything else other than move on. I lost a job that I had for nearly a decade about two years ago. It got to the point where I unfortunately had to empty my entire 401k just to make ends meet. I got lucky, but I'm still financially struggling a bit. However, there's nothing more I can do other than find better and more work. Carpet bomb those applications.

I went homeless a couple times just so I didn't have responsibilities because I was burnt out on work. Aside from a good place place to sleep I liked it for awhile. I've been fired twice but most of my jobs I get great recommendations because I have good work ethic, almost never late or miss days. But almost all jobs I hate and can't wait to quit.

Haven't been fired myself but know others who have. Also had to be out of work for a while due to personal problems. Best you can do is find something else. Maybe through temp jobs. Also, and I know this is hard, but in most places of work it's best to just stay quiet do your job and go home. It's tempting to try and improve work environments but it's a place where no one really wants to be so it's easy to get stressed. When I was a bank teller I had an assistant manager he always would find someone to pick on. After one guy left he started to get on my case about everything. Eventually I spoke to my manager and just kept my head down doing what I was supposed to do. Eventually he left me alone and we eventually became more friendly with each other. These days I work at home as an independent contractor. Mostly I take calls for companies doing customer service. Pay is alright. There is also calls for sales which make a lot more but I'm not the selling type. I enjoy it a lot more since I can work at home and don't have to deal with too many people. Also if I get an unpleasant customer no big deal will probably never speak to them again. It was scary starting this kind of job but I'm glad I did. It might be a good idea to try something new and think out of the box which might help you avoid the same stresses you encountered.

Sometimes being fired or laid off is a blessing in disguise. The last couple jobs before my current gig had more or less been that way. I actually found my current job after not getting what would have ended up being a cubicle job that would have driven me nuts. I'm not 110% kosher in retail, but I at least get to work around what I enjoy for the most part. I've had way worse jobs and don't mind going to work 95% of the time.

I should probably be counting my blessings that I've never been "fired." The closest thing was when I went over my temporary leave of absence time at my last job because my doctor didn't clear me to go back to work. I knew that I wasn't going to be able to go back, so it wasn't long before I started looking into new jobs and found one. I was a complete wreck in the interim, but there were a lot of other things going on that caused that. But yeah, other than that I've worked at about eight or nine other places since high school, but I always left of my own volition. Not to toot my own horn or anything, but most of the people I worked for would tell me later that they wished I'd stayed on because I was such a good employee and always went above and beyond what was asked of me. I also almost never take sick days. When I was in Japan for five years I think I took one sick day the entire time.
