Sword Art Online past episode 14.

For the past however long I've been watching Sword Art Online, though it's been about a month since I watched episode 14 since I felt like that'd be a good point for a break. I enjoyed episodes 1-14. I'm far from being a hardcore SAO fan, but I don't really understand the hate all to much either. I've found it a good series so far. However, yesterday I looked at some of the reviews for it on Crunchyroll, and it seems to really go downhill. Apparently episodes 15-25 have this not very good arc and abandoned the Kirito x Asuna thing despite what they promised, along with some other stuff. And then there's season 2, which is set it a gun based game. See, if they made this a sequel series (like Megaman Zero to Megaman X), it wouldn't bother me, but they made a new gun based game for a series that's named after the first game, Sword Art Online. It really weirds me out and it sounds like it's already causing a few problems for itself. My question is, do I carry on watching the rest of season 1, or do I just stop where I am? I've never abandoned an anime before, neither have I seen an anime that I dislike. I'd rather neither of those happened, but it seems like I might have to make a choice instead.

I like the whole season of SAO. I took the risk of following this one through out all 25. What I like was that it continued on 1-25, rather than having SAO being a two season. As for Sword Art Online II, I didn't like that one very much. I wasn't expecting it to be a GUN anime. I was expecting something to go wrong in the same game, again.

Its okay. Not a bad show but not the greatest show either. As for me I didnt like the alfheim online arc, but thats just my taste everyone has there own opinion. If you like it so far, then continue at your own risk. You might just enjoy the rest.

You should at least finish the first season of SAO, that way you won't have any regrets on abandoning it. As for me I love SAO to the point I have both seasons on dvd. I got off track again, my point is finish the first season then judge for yourself rather or not you want to continue on to the next season or not.

It did go downhill from alfheim but that didn't stop me from shipping Kirito and Asuna <3. I just read the light novels to feed my addiction further. And still re-watch Aincrad arc lots of times. Go ahead and finish the whole series for closure :) And if you really ship Kirito and Asuna, read the Progressive series light novels

Thanks for the responses! Later on when I feel like it, I'll at least finish season 1. I'm really hoping my thoughts on the anime won't change too much.

Yeah it got a little dark in a couple of places. But I watched both seasons and enjoyed them both. If they ever continued the anime further, I'd watch those as well. I just liked the idea of full diving into games. The concept really fueled my imagination well beyond the anime itself.

Nice to meet a fellow SAO fan ! I know its not perfect, but it does have quite a bit of unnecessary hate imo, so good thing you didn't ask this on reddit lol. I wasn't really a fan of the alfheim arc, as others mentioned it got pretty dark and i kind of forced myself through it. As for the GGO arc, i thought it was alright and pretty cool switching it up to a gun/shooter type mmorpg with some mystery involved. Season 1 is great so finish that first, then give the rest a try.
